Bill O’Brien (HC Boston College, aka BillyBob O’Buttchin et al)

I don't get where all this "OSU ran up the score on Penn State" wailing is coming from. I certainly don't recall hearing the same when Oregon beat Nicholls State earlier this year 66-3. And in that game, Oregon tacked on 21 in the fourth quarter, whereas on Saturday OSU only scored 7 in the fourth.

You could be 100% correct.
When the author included information about how BoB was staring across the sideline at Meyer after the challenge - I interpreted it as "he was red hot" on the inside.

Just one man's interpretation.

I'm sure BOB was non-plussed at that call; but to his credit he deliberately abstained from giving the press any material. Instead of reporting the "no comment", they decided a lack of response meant they could spin whatever story they liked.
Of course drama sells copies and generates clicks.

I don't get all this discussion about whether or not the score was run up or not. Regardless of whether it was or was not.... so what? This is big boy football. You can't compete, don't take the field. If you think you're good enough to take the field, then expect - and accept - the best from your opponent for 60 minutes.

For me, anything less than the best effort from your opponent is a lot more insulting than keeping the score close so as not to hurt my feelings.

And don't get me wrong, I haven't heard anything from the PedSU coaches or players that suggest they are whining about having the score run up. It's the media and the Pedster cultists who are complaining.

Neither do I (get all the discussion about the score)
Is it me, or is this the first time all season the media has gone on extensively about "running up the score" ?
Maybe I just wasn't paying attention, but I haven't seen anything except praise for Oregon and 'Bama when they (obviously) run it up for "style points" ?
Somebody tell me I'm just blind.

Ha! Can you imagine Iowa with Penn State's fans? You know - instead of being 3rd in conference standings since joining the conference, they're 5th or 6th? Probably twice as much whining about referees, opposing coaches, and the conference, as a whole.

Hackenberg is a lonely bright light on the dark abyss that is Penn State football. To lose him would create a beautiful meltdown on BWI. I'd love to see it.

Hack is going to get beat up. That has a psychological effect on a QB. If gets beat up a lot this season who knows what will happen. Will things be better next year with everybody back on offense? Maybe. Maybe not. If this years guys are all back next year does that mean "better"? A lot of these guys have a low ceiling.
And then there's a defense that is low on speed and athleticism and won't get better by recruiting for years.
I think this team has a low ceiling with the guys on the O line and on defense.

Eh, the rest of their schedule looks like this:

Illinois
@ Minnesota
Purdue
Nebraska
@ Wisky

We've got all but Minnesota and Nebraska on our schedule, so SOS kind of cancels out (If Illinois beats the Pedsters, it makes the Pedsters look that much worse, but Illi that much better - which isn't much).

I'm willing to sacrifice the very small SOS bump for the personal satisfaction of seeing the bwi-monkey-[Mark May]-dodgeball-match that would result from losing all 5 of them.

Wisky could destroy them in a manner like we did.
They should pick up wins against Illinois and Purdue.
At a hot Minnesota team that has a strong running game is very iffy.
Nebraska? Who knows what they'll be like in a couple weeks. Huskers have a nice offense, though.

Bill O'Brien's NFL buyout reduced

Penn State coach Bill O’Brien had his contract revised last summer, with the buyout clause reduced to make it easier for him to take an NFL job in the future, ESPN reported on Sunday.

The restated contract shows O’Brien changed the formula for his buyout and reduced the price of an NFL buyout from $19.33 million last year to $6.48 million for this year, per the contract, whereas the buyout another school would have to pay Penn State for O’Brien is $11.08 million.
.
.
.
Will he leave Penn State? He appears to be torn over it, but reducing the buyout on his contract is a clear indicator that he might be ready for a move.

"Why would I want to leave Penn State? Have you seen these lunatics outside? Oh, yeah. I'm torn.

If the BWI looneybin thinks things are bad now, wait till they lose ol' Buttchin. I've been impressed that he's managed to produce two bowl-eligible (were it not for the sanctions) teams from the scrap heap of that program. He turned Moxie into a decent QB and has brought Hackenberg up to the point where I feel like he's the second best QB in the Big Ten.

The idiots in that fan base have no idea how lucky they are to have him as their coach - they'll quickly find out if they lose him.

Pfft... they're just going to be making room for Saban. There's a reason he didn't take the Tejas job. He's waiting on the PedState offer.
This would truly be the best part of him leaving if he goes. Watching those loonies throw every elite name out in the book. Saban, Meyer, Miles, Malzahn, Dungy, Gruden, Harbaughs...if you think Texas fans are crazy, just wait. I just hope another Sekrah-troll reappears to wind them up again. Actually, they may have a home-grown guy out there available. Munchak is about to get shitcanned by the Titans. That might actually work out pretty well for them if they can convince him to take the job...
