Bill O’Brien (HC Boston College, aka BillyBob O’Buttchin et al)

I am torn about the rest of Ped State's season. On one hand I want them to win out so that OSU has a better SOS...

Eh, the rest of their schedule looks like this:

Illinois
@ Minnesota
Purdue
Nebraska
@ Wisky

We've got all but Minnesota and Nebraska on our schedule, so SOS kind of cancels out (If Illinois beats the Pedsters, it makes the Pedsters look that much worse, but Illi that much better - which isn't much).

I'm willing to sacrifice the very small SOS bump for the personal satisfaction of seeing the bwi-monkey-shit-dodgeball-match that would result from losing all 5 of them.

Hackenburg won't be going anywhere. I can't imagine what was promised to him to get him to stay after his verbal, but the kid is (or was....who knows since last week) leading the B1G in passing as a freshman. Say what you will about Bawlbaby O'Buttstain......he can coach a QB. All Hack has to do is suffer through shitty teams, an occasional epic beat down, and the worst fanbase in America for 2 more years and he'll be going very early in the draft.

I don't know, I think the meltdown might be more epic if they are denied again a bowl game that they are eligible for

Which is perfect because I can see them going 2-3 or 3-2 against that schedule.

Wisconsin will take care of them without a problem.
Nebraska should beat them unless they fail in epic fashion which is certainly within the realm of possibility.
Minnesota could take them down if they continue playing well- which is clearly not something to count on.
Illinois and Purdue are both insanely bad and it would take a miracle for either of them to win in my opinion.

Doesn't sound like Coach BoB is too thrilled with Corch Meyers third quarter challenge when up by seven touchdowns.

When Urban Meyer called timeout to challenge the ball spot of Allen Robinson’s fourth down reception in the third quarter, Bill O’Brien could only stare down Ohio State’s sideline.

The timing of the challenge called into question the Buckeyes’ approach to their ultimate 63-14 blowout of the Nittany Lions on Saturday. At the time of Robinson’s initially called fourth down conversion, Ohio State had been up 49 points.

“The timeout to challenge the spot? He didn’t think we had a first down, so he called a timeout to challenge it. I have no thoughts on that,” O’Brien said after the game.

Upon review, the officials determined that Robinson was one yard shy of the marker, and Penn State turned the ball over on downs. Ohio State then mounted a 79-yard touchdown drive to cap their score for the game

I like how Meyer being 100% right doesn't factor in.

Also, the headline is pretty awesome.

Ohio State scores 63 in win, plays hard into the fourth quarter

So, that's a bad thing?

Maybe if Penn State had played hard for even small portions of the game they wouldn't have gotten their asses kicked so bad?

Hmmmm, sounds an awful lot like a certain BBQ fan currently coaching is Lawrence, KS...

From above article

So here we go again. Some journalist asks a question about running up the score. O'Brien answers and suggests absolutely NOTHING of the sort. Philly.com headline writer who is overdosing on estrogen writes a loaded headline 'question'. And like good little lapdogs, the braindead readers assume PSU is 'crying' about it. There is absolutely no good reason for any athlete or coach to be talking to these intellectually dishonest jackals. None.

I think that pretty much hits the nail on the head. Journalists are as shameless as used car salesmen, politicians, and lawyers.

The thing is it's someone's job to tell Meyer when to challenge a call. At some point down the road Meyer is going to have to know whether or not to challenge a call that actually matters and something like this is key practice for the person to tell Meyer to challenge and for Meyer to trust the voice on the other end and pull the trigger.

I don't get all this discussion about whether or not the score was run up or not. Regardless of whether it was or was not.... so what? This is big boy football. You can't compete, don't take the field. If you think you're good enough to take the field, then expect - and accept - the best from your opponent for 60 minutes.

For me, anything less than the best effort from your opponent is a lot more insulting than keeping the score close so as not to hurt my feelings.

And don't get me wrong, I haven't heard anything from the PedSU coaches or players that suggest they are whining about having the score run up. It's the media and the Pedster cultists who are complaining.
