day's meeting with davis the morning after the rose bowl, where they discuss the plans for next year's defense:
Need me some Marcus. His recruiting ability has been phenomenal, and at Cinci of all places.
I just don’t see that happening. Schiano is probably staying. He provides stability and head coaching experience. Grinch is a young guy they brought in to lead the defense whenever Schiano goes. And Marcus isn’t taking an LB coach job. He’s earned more in the profession than that already.

EDIT: I’d be happy with Laurinaitis if he ever wants to get into coaching. He has a radio show in the area but I doubt that satisfies a competitor like him.
Edit: y'all are insane if you want Schiano over Grinch. Saban coveted the guy dearly, and his D at Wazzoo of all places, was outstanding.
is a high end recruiter, especially in the fertile NJ area.

I'm starting to be torn on wanting him gone now for the points that you made. But also a stronger point is, our defensive scheme looked down right awful this year for MOST of the year. Go back and look at some of those soul crushing long runs that the D gave up, and that falls at the feet of the DC. I understand that he's a great recruiter, I get that, but if we're bringing in top talent and getting gashed weekly by lesser rated talent, what does it matter then? His D at Wazoo wasn’t ‘outstanding’, in fact the cougars D was better this year.
The play of the safeties wasn’t up to snuff.
I’m hesitant to give up Schiano.
He has been an elite DC.
What he did at Rutgers as a HC should put him in the HoF, first ballot.
I posit his experience as a HC would provide valuable counsel to Day.
He also has a Q rating and is a high end recruiter, especially in the fertile NJ area.
My biggest concern as it relates to Day is recruiting, especially nationally.
