I agree that everyone should take a deep breath, and that baseless insults have no place here...but, this thread was provided by Clarity to tell the uninformed what was happening, and the direction BP plans to go.
Others, myself included, feel/felt pretty deceived, especially after the recent changes to the appearance of the site. All that has been covered, in abundance, and we don't need to go any further there (well, I don't).
I will say, because I don't believe it's been thrown out there clearly (although it has been hinted at numerous times), that the likely primary reason for this feeling I have of being deceived is the fact that SGN does NOT appear to be what was advertised. Premium info, insider's opinions and views, content not to be found anywhere on the web - that was the product Alan led us to believe he was selling. Instead, after this appearance change, we find that the site seems to consist primarily of forums similiar to BP, with a message to each new user which specifically states that SGN is about "community". At the time, I'm not sure any mention at all was made of the premium info that would be found at SGN first and/or only...I believe that has since been incorporated into the spiel, but I still find it hard to swallow that the message to members is worded the way it is. Combine that with the physical appearance, and you see why people are upset....but for me personally, it is the fact that 90% of SGN appears to be a blatant rip-off of BP, a BP that I personally have invested time and energy to better it in the small ways that I could...and now SGN is there to charge people for all of our labor. What's worse, is that the supposed direction of the site, to deliver top-notch premium insider info (for a fee), appears to in reality be less than 10% of the site's focus.
Now, I'm not trying to condemn or anything else, and like most here, I sincerely wish SGN the best in what they set out to do....originally. At first, I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, in that a lot of this stuff was just because the change was rushed, etc. But now, I'm with 21 and 3yards. Don't talk to me, SHOW ME. Make your site what you say it is...because right now, it isn't. And idiots like Lloyd coming over here and stirring the pot significantly hurts the perception of SGN to BPers.
