Big XII (official thread of whining, and homely herpes-having’ hos)

Those cunts cried for a decade+ when the B1G didn't have a Championship Game. We weren't allowed to have one until we went to 12, so they better not vote to allow them to have one without getting to 12. Fuck them.

Lol the BigXII continues to be the idiot kid at the Rodeo. ACC lost their bid to fully deregulate. So the BigXII negotiates with the Big10 and SEC that as long as they play a round robin they can have a championship game. Cause that benefits them in anyway..... I cant wait till a 10-2 plays a 12-0 team last game of the season but rests all their guys because they are locked into the game next week. Then comes back and beats them the following week. The crying of the 12-0 team will be epic.... Hope its Texas cause then they'll ave everything they wished for...

This can go three ways listed in increasing order of preference.

NCAA doesn't vote for them, so they expand and take the juggalos. Not good. Not that B12 juggalo state becomes a threat; just that I don't want to see that asswipe President of theirs get a god damned thing to start crowing about.

NCAA allows them to have their championship game. Sad juggalos left out of P5 for foreseeable future.

NCAA doesn't vote for them, so they expand but don't take the juggalos. Juggalos tears flow like the salmon back to capistrano.

When rewriting the rules means more money it's usually only a matter of time.

Looks like it might not matter. Sounds like OU is still pissed if they don't expand and get a conference network. And as long as ESPN doesn't cut Texas's golden parachute in budget cuts that'll never happen. So I expect OU to everything can to kill the BigXII at this point.

I don't know how the B1G actually voted, but my guess is that Delany "gave" the Big 12 "concessions" knowing that failure to expand the conference would piss off Oklahoma and Kansas, driving those schools into the arms of the B1G.

UC and UCONN will then be invited into what's left of the Big Texas and little friends conference to get back to 10 teams, as the conference scrambles to satisfy the terms of their television contract.

Yea, really. Can we send them to the SEC instead? Kansas seems like the perfect SEC West addition to be their Kentucky at football and basketball.
I realize I spent awhile arguing for UT and OU to Big West... but... I repent... I'm all in on some more East Coast teams for those ratings and burgeoning recruiting grounds.

Maybe Delany just wants Oklahoma to knock loose some other teams (Virginia, UNC?) when they bolt the Big 12. I'm not sure how that would unfold, but the Big 12 imploding might shake up the ACC in unexpected ways. Delany certainly has little to lose by creating more chaos since no one is leaving the B1G.

FWIW,

So that is all interesting from a national perspective. But Ohio State fans may be most interested in what Boren said to the Tulsa World about what might happen with the Sooners if the Big 12 doesn't take those steps. Here's the full quote:

Q: I understand the Big Ten Conference essentially has a standing invitation to OU. Can you say if that's true or not?

A: "Well, I wouldn't comment on that. I don't think it would be appropriate to comment. I would say that there are no official outstanding invitations from anyone right now, but there are always, always informal conversations that we get approached (with) from time to time, and I think the strength of our program, we're always considered a Top 10 program in the country. So we're always attractive to the conferences. We have comprehensive strength. We're talking about football, we're talking about basketball, we're talking about gymnastics, other things. We have a very strong, comprehensive program. Our brand, I noticed in one of the magazines recently, they measured the worth of the top brands in the country, as they saw it, athletically, and we were in the top six, ranked in that fashion. So I think there are always opportunities for Oklahoma.

Wait. What? Let's try to unpack that for a second.

Throughout this interview, Boren is pretty clear that he would prefer to stay in the Big 12. It makes sense, after all. OU has historical ties with most of the member institutions, they're a very influential member of a power conference, they have financial flexibility; it's a good gig. But Boren has also been very clear that he is not happy with the status quo of the Big 12, or where it stands relative to other power conferences. It certainly isn't the most stable. It doesn't have a conference title game (... yet). And when this round of Grant of Rights agreements end (in the 2020s), one could easily argue they have multiple members who could be attractive to other conferences. Including, say, Oklahoma.

So being public about this sort of this can be a way of trying to influence his other presidents to fall in line. We need to do X Y and Z, or else some universities who have other options might be tempted to look elsewhere. Universities like this one.

no thanks.
don't need another Kentucky because we don't care about basketball.
A&M and Mizzou got that memo and now suck at the sport as per conference rules.
