Big Ten Power Rankings

After much consultation with the children at Little Bopeep pre-school, mine were sent yesterday. Those kids are very knowledgeable when it comes to Big 10 basketball. I probably will listen to their advice more often.

I wanted to reward NW, but I can't justify them any higher than 8. Wisconsin is dropping like a rock. Purdue and ILL are a cointoss at 2/3.

1. Michigan State
2. Illinois
3. Purdue
4. Minnesota
5. Wisconsin
6. Penn State
7. Ohio State
8. Michigan
9. Northwestern
10. Iowa
11. Indiana

I know I have Wisconsin higher than most. The Iowa loss was bad, but, IMO, they've played the toughest schedule of the middle-tier teams (Wisconsin, Penn State, Ohio State, UM). Penn State over OSU was kind of a coin flip.

Sorry, I meant to send mine in and forgot about it.
Mine would have resembled the final one.
Wisc has 4 (?) straight losses. No way they rank where you have them Bucky

I saw that, but I also looked at how they lost. The 13 point loss to Purdue wasn't pretty but the Purdue team was finally healthy again. A 4 point loss against a good Minnesota team. A 4-point OT loss at Iowa. It's never easy to win on the road, and Iowa has played OSU, Penn State, and Minnesota very close in their games. Iowa could very easily be 5-2 instead of 2-5. It's still a bad loss for Wisky, but not a terrible loss. It's not like they lost to Indiana. (:slappy:) And a 7 point loss at Illinois. In their other homes games, Illinois beat Indiana by 31, Michigan by 15, and OSU by 18.

Wisconsin has beaten both Michigan and Penn State and I would favor them in a match-up against OSU. I don't think they are a bad team, just hit a tough part of their schedule and compounded it by losing a game they shouldn't have lost. I wouldn't be surprised to see them win 6 of their next 7 and be sitting at 9-5 here in a couple weeks.

At the current time this pretty much summarizes the conference:

Tier 1
MSU
Illinois/Purdue (coin flip)

Tier 2
Everyone else except for Iowa and Indiana

Tier 3
Iowa
Indiana
I would have to go along with that and when you do get to Tier 2 it would be almost like putting them where the game is played. I do think Wisconsin is a much better team than what their record indicates and I really don't have that much respect for PSU because I think a team with height will beat them. I also have Ohio State (bias) as the #4 slot followed by the rest of Tier 2.
