:) - Thanks, but the shaft is being spread out amongst all the out of state Buckeyes (possibly).

According to TVGuide.com, Comcast in the Detroit area will be showing ND vs UCLA at 8pm. Nothing like watching a west coast team against one of the worst teams in the country. Far better than 2 undefeated teams from the Big10. :shake:

Hopefully this was just a default listing and when the official coverage comes out it will change....

Same thing here in Chicago, ABC7 is listing Ntre Ame @ UCLA at 7pm in Chicago. I'd say it's pretty obvious that this was a ploy to sell Gameplan subscriptions, when they picked up this game at the last minute knowing they were going to show NoD to most of the nation.

A little off topic but ...

A DirecTV rep called last week to "see how we are doing with our service" and pointed out that I was "not taking advantage of the free NFL Sunday Ticket" and that it is free (along with all of the other channels in the $99 tier) for 4 months and that it costs $0 to turn on and $0 to turn back off in 4 months.

* Free for me because I am a new subscriber

I suspect most of the people in this thread are already taking advantage but there might be a few of you that see a TOLL FREE on the caller ID and automatically ignore it.

This sets up an interesting situation. Looks like the Illinois game will be the " conference" game on the BTN. This game could be huge, as Illinois is no doormat, by any stretch.
That game is November 10th. An undefeated Ohio State and a game, ranked Illinois squad would be Jim Delany's wet dream. A must have game in two markets that probably want to watch a little men's basketball in November too.

The only thing they've done that's pissed me off is when I signed up (and I admit they were very willing to work with me to induce my transfer from TW) they said I'd be getting 5mbps internet.... well, it turns out I'm getting 764k and I cannot seem to convince them they owe me a shitload of speed... they also claim they have never offered 5Mbps... which is bullshit.

But, otherwise, I've been satisfied. And, the package I have from them I am saving something like 30 bucks on the price I should be saving. If you're coming from TW, I'd tell em straight up "I don't really want to leave TW, but I wanted to see what you could do for me" and they'll work with you. I will also say, if HD is an issue for you, TWs "Free" HD pak is superior (no ESPN2 on WOW, for example)

Any word on the BTN experience this past weekend? I talked to another service rep and they said they WILL have overflow channels on the digital package starting this weekend, but you have to have the digital "basic" package, rather than the digital "value" package. Or vice versa, I don't remember - whichever is more expensive. I'm going to try to switch this week, though. With the commercials comcast is running, I don't think they'll be reaching an agreement anytime soon.

Cable giant, TBS clearly get it right OSU-KSU game to be on Big Ten Network
Published on Tuesday, Oct 02, 2007

Yours truly has taken a couple of swipes at Time Warner Cable (what's a football junkie to do?) in recent months over their protracted battles with the Big Ten Network and NFL Network, but the company will get nothing but props in this corner for its latest move.
Call it keeping up with the Joneses, a trend or whatever, but baseball fans won't have to deal with the limited scope of conventional television when watching the Tribe take on the New York Yankees this week in the American League Divisional Series.

OSU notebook: Big Ten Network picks up Kent State game

Tuesday, October 2, 2007 3:27 AM
By Tim May

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Fourth-ranked Ohio State's next home game, Oct. 13 against nonconference foe Kent State, will be televised by the Big Ten Network with a noon kickoff. And that won't be the last Ohio State game on the start-up network.
Each Big Ten team is guaranteed at least one league game on the Big Ten Network. ABC or ESPN has spoken for every other Buckeyes game through the end of October, but the last two home games, against Wisconsin and Illinois, and the Nov. 17 game at Michigan have yet to be designated, which means the Big Ten Network will televise one of those, OSU spokesman Steve Snapp said yesterday.

Worth highlighting this blurb. OSU_Sports has alluded to the fact that 1 of tOSU's Big 10 games will be on BTN, but it boils down to this:

One of these 3 games will be a BTN game:
Wiscy at tOSU, Nov. 3
Illinois at tOSU, Nov 10
The Game, Nov 17th

They absolutely positively cannot have The Game - ABC simply will not let that happen. Thus, it boils down to the home games hosting either the Illini or Wisconsin.
Given that Wisconsin likely will come in with the Big Ten title on the line ABC (or ESPN) would want that tilt, leaving presently resurgent Illinois as the obvious choice.
I think that is a solid prediction.
Or, if you prefer we could vBet this thing.

I look at it like this.... more football is good. I was able to watch the Michigan v. Northwestern game, where before I would have been unable to do so. On a typical Saturday, I have 3 TVs running, so on days where the Big Ten Snoozer of the week (Formerly the game picked up by "ESPN Plus" (Always on Channel 10 in Columbus (CBS)) is a better option than say, the ACC snoozer of the week at Noon, I like having the option...

The pregame studio stuff seemed reasonable. Granted, I wasn't paying that close attention (as I normally dont when talking heads are doing their thing) but for the bits I remember hearing, there was some insight you're not going to get from the national guys... that is to say, these guys are paid to think about and talk about the Big Ten, and as such, they get in to it a little more indepth than say ESPN might, who has to cover the whole of the sport.

All in all, despite my prior posts on this thread, I must confess to liking the channel... at least where football (and I'm sure Basketball too) are concerned. Having the channel, of course, makes my change of mind easy... and obvious. I still think, on the whole, the exclusivity of it and the greed factor, etc. are bad for the game. But, much like how a 21 year old suddenly doesn't argue the drinking age should be 18 with the same passion, I'm all about more football on TV. I'll say when it comes to Illinois v. Indiana skeet shooting, I still have no interest and think the channel is 'niche" in that respect.
