COuple things...

1 - Unrelated to your post.... but... BTN is on WOW now.... Checked it when I got home.. it wasn't supposed to come on til tomorrow (or so I thought)
2 - when I spoke to WOW earlier (AUgust) the cust. rep. assured me WOW would not be getting BTN at all.

I certainly don't dispute what you've said you were told, just saying the WOW gnomes probably aren't too up to speed... on the other hand.... I suppose them knowing what channel lineups are is different than knowing about ongoing contract negotiations....

If you have WOW, please let us know whether you have access to all the games today. If so, I'm making the call to switch.

WOW reaches deal to carry Big Ten Network

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

The Big Ten Network gained more viewers in central Ohio and possibly more leverage with holdout Time Warner when it reached an agreement yesterday with cable provider WideOpenWest.
WOW, which will include the Big Ten Network in its basic-service package (channel 87 locally), serves about 400,000 customers in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Illinois. It is the third-largest cable provider in central Ohio, behind Time Warner and Insight.

What would be the point of having it if they didn't have the overflow channels? Who would decide which game would be on the channel? That would suck to have the BTN but still not be able to watch the game you wanted. According to the coverage map, if you lived in Michigan and were an Iowa fan, you would be screwed this weekend. I live in Michigan and wouldn't want to watch MSU or UM if OSU was on an overflow channel. I'd still be forced to go to a sports bar. My excitement is fading. It doesn't sound worth switching.

They may not have the overflow, but at this point really the fact that at least they have it is a big jump.

If you think about it WOW is only in four states right now, so it would be easy for them just to show the "regional" gamefor that area. Only place they run into a problem would be with Michigan, and Indiana, where you would have more than one team in the state.

Yes it would suck for a fan of a team who is out of their "area" such as an Iowa fan living in Michigan, but it just gives them an excuse to move out of Michigan :)

Just spoke to Customer Service this AM. They advise that BTN is currently not HD for WOW... may well be in the near future (depends on the signal they're sent, I guess).... But, as of today, it's just a digital signal.

Regarding overflow channels... advised that as of Sept 29, no overflow. However, coming Oct. 6 they anticipate having overflow availability on their digital tier. For what it's worth, the digital tier I have (not sure if it's "basic" or "advanced" or whatever) is worth it to sports fans, as it comes with NFL net, Fox Sports, East, West, South and North and so on. I've found this season that the FoxSports West channel is a good "after hours" option for a game.. that is to say, once the ABC 8:00 game is over (along with the ESPN games) there is almost always a west coast game on Fox West.

Agree totally about the Fox sports regional channels, I think those are all part of an extra package with TW, but part of the digital package with WOW.

Interesting......I'm tempted to change either way. I can get all the channels I care about as well as internet and still save 10-20 bucks a month with WOW.

The only thing they've done that's pissed me off is when I signed up (and I admit they were very willing to work with me to induce my transfer from TW) they said I'd be getting 5mbps internet.... well, it turns out I'm getting 764k and I cannot seem to convince them they owe me a shitload of speed... they also claim they have never offered 5Mbps... which is bullshit.

But, otherwise, I've been satisfied. And, the package I have from them I am saving something like 30 bucks on the price I should be saving. If you're coming from TW, I'd tell em straight up "I don't really want to leave TW, but I wanted to see what you could do for me" and they'll work with you. I will also say, if HD is an issue for you, TWs "Free" HD pak is superior (no ESPN2 on WOW, for example)

My experience with WOW has been uniformly excellent. Internet access speeds in excess of 5 Mbps, great selection of movies on the digital package, and free LD to US and Canada. And their customer service is outstanding. Now, with BTN, it just got better.

What you talking about Willis?

The same thing we've been talking about the last couple of pages. We are being regionally televised next week vs. Purdue. Since your location says Ohio, you won't have to worry about it. I'll be sweating it out until the coverage maps come out with Ntre Ame playing in the other regional telecast.
