Just called a half hour ago asking why the BTN isn't in Hi-Def on DirecTV and they said it will by mid-September. :(

Future of B10 Network

Steve, if the quality of the camerawork, announcers, and simple focus on the 'biggies' (Michigan, OSU, Penn St) continues, you're dead nuts on. I've been watching since Aug 31, and those announcers (hey, who are they anyway? only one I recognize is Dinardo) are doing a heckuva job in 'winging it' as there isn't a whole lot of chemistry, and certainly no script to follow.

The camerawork was sketchy, guess they couldn't hire away any ESPN camera people......and what did you expect. Network TV tried to do the same thing to ESPN twenty-five years ago - shut them out. If they get better, and cover more of the sports, then maybe they've got a shot. The Big Ten states cover about 40% of the USA's population centers (within 400 miles), so if enough of them sign up, they've got a shot. Heck, if 3/4 of the OSU alums sign up (that's 300,000) that gives them a heckuva shot.

We'll see in the weeks to come. I for one, really only care about Big Ten football, and OSU in particular, so for me, it's a good investment. Maybe this will be the catalyst that brings Notre Dame into the Big Ten?

I was kind of pissed, I got up this morning and my B10 Network options were the Meatchicken game and Penn state, after seeing scUM get drilled I felt a little better but still, at least with game plan I got to see all the bucks games :(

The OSU game was on 218. Were you not able to see the channel at all or were you blacked out somehow?

It could have been your receiver. My one of mine automatically added 218,219, 220 and 221. The other I had to go to the menu and add 218 and 219.

I had to add the channels on my guide as well. I think it only happens if you have previously deselected those channels, then you have to add them back. It never hurts once in a while to switch to "all channels" to see if there is anything new.

KETTERING ? Among the Ohio State football fans who crammed Buffalo Wild Wings at Town & Country shopping center Saturday, Time Warner Cable might have lost a popularity contest against Michigan for dropping Buckeye games in a contract dispute with the Big Ten Network.
"I'm mad at Time Warner," said 28-year-old Kettering resident Paul Stephan. "I know it's a business deal, but my feeling is, you provide the service to your customers. I'd have my own party if I could get the game at home."

BTN - BAD BAD Idea...

BTN sux.

This is the first time ever that I haven't been able to watch a game on TV (except last year when they played the same stupid game that one week - who was it against???). Not everyone has satellite TV - why should people be required to buy DirectTV in order to watch the Buckeyes? OSU is a public university - taxpayer money!!! The football games should be aired on the public airwaves so the everydayman in this fine state can watch their beloved Buckeyes.

Mark my words, this will be a money LOSER in the long run...and will alienate and piss off many fans.

We showed up at BW3 at 11:00, thinking it would get crowded fast, since no one can watch the game at home. It was empty. It didn't start filling up until about 11:45. People got there at 12:00, and were able to find a table to sit at.

Hopefully It will all work out in the end, I know that the big 10 schools got paid good money that is over and above what they normally make. We had a great day at PJ's and I had a great draft.

As far as the BTN, were they having technical difficulties? Just basically horrible production management by the BTN. They had better get that worked out. It was like it was being produced by a bunch of grad students experimenting. They did not have the updates rolling across the screen continuously of the other Big 10 games, the layout of the down and yards to go was horrible. You never knew exactly what yardline the ball was on until after the huddle broke. They didn't have any real interviews or color segments. And someone please tell them....


ATTN BTN: GET A HOT CHIC ON THE SIDELINES TO GIVE ON-FIELD COMMENTARY!
