I already have TWO complaints about the Big 10 Network. First, it should be a high def channel if I'm going to have to watch a game on the BTN channel instead of a game that would have normally been on ESPN HD. That's just wrong..

Second, I think regional coverage is bogus. Prior to the BTN I would probably have been able to flip back and forth between OSU/Youngstown and sCUM or Penn State.
I agree on both counts. I don't know about Direct TV, but don't they have "overflow" channels for the other games?

My understanding with Insight is that both HD and extra channels should be forthcoming, they just aren't prepared for all of that yet. On mine, though, BTN is now on both 527 and 528. I didn't notice that the other day, because it's also on basic channel 26, and the only other place I looked was in the 900 HD group. The programming listings are the same for both, so I guess I won't see if I get two different games until noon.

I agree with Mook, though - it's a pretty sharp picture.

The game IS being produced in HD by BTN. If your provider chooses not to broadcast it in HD, then your beef should be with them.

Too bad this is happening but since it has there probably is no going back.
Buckeye cable has a great picture of the BTN though. Very sharp.
GO BUCKS
:oh:

I want to go on record on this one. As a standalone network, the Big Ten Network will fail. It will fail for many reasons. It will have an effect on our press coverage, the tone of it, and our subsequent rankings. It will diminish the national footprint of Big Ten ball considerably and that will affect recruiting.

It may take a few years, but posts live forever here and I want to put this on record.

As an aside, notice that the CBSSportsline scoreboard is now treating Big Ten games like Div IAA, no box score, nothing but a top page score.

Kind of funny:

Half way through the 4th quarter the stadium scoreboard had an add for the BTN. Many of those left in the stadium booed it.

I was reading last night about someone uploading the game to a torrent or something. Any news on that? I wasn't able to catch the game and I would love it if I could watch it.

EDIT: Nevermind, I found the thread concerning games.

Also.. about the BTN, I think it will fail also. I just think that over half the country can't/won't bother watching our games if they have to pay for it(It's like me watching SEC games, I'll watch em if nothing else is on but if they were going to make me pay for it I could care less and would just not watch it). Recruiting will take a big hit. Who wants to play for schools that will be seen by less people when you could go over to a major SEC school and be seen every week?

Is that really true? My impression was that the BTN won't have any of the big matchups - just the ones that would have only been shown locally anyways. In other words, people outside the midwest wouldn't have seen the OSU/YSU or UM/AppSt games anyways, unless they would have watched it on gameplan.

Even if they are on basic cable, as planned?

Also, if the BTN does not implode, you can bet the SEC and others will do the same.

Alright, my mistake. I didn't have all the facts I guess. I'm just fed up with this BTN bull shit and needed to say something:tongue2:

I miss watching the games from the comfort of my home already! and we've only had one game! Although the sports bar wasn't bad...
