You gotta love the humor of OSU fans who belittle other teams wins, but at the same time when OSU battles past a tough opponent like Cincinnati or San Diego State, it's a mark of a team that knows how to win.
Edit: And don't get me wrong I'll be the first to admit that 2002 Canes had no business trailing Rutgirls into the 4th. It just shows that the team had no leadership. But back to the topic of what "down to the wire means".

Actually, when OSU plays a San Diego State team close, I say they played like horse-bleep. I say the same when Miami plays Rutgers close.
I agree the UM vs Rutgers game wasn't down to the wire. It was definately closer than it should've been. I doubt many people would've classified our recent win against Cincy as really close, but we were only up 4 late in the third quarter. I do think that the game Rutgers played against Miami in 2002 is a mark of improvement and confidence in the program. Miami fans should view that as more a compliment to their program being used as a benchmark. I don't think any of us Buckeye fans would downplay a win however it may come. It's a compliment to the opposing team rather than a flame against the eventual winner.
When Schiano took over Rutgers, he set a goal to sign one of Jersey's Top 10 HS players each season. He's done that in each of his four seasons so far.
That's a big deal for Rutgers. They've even gotten some Florida kids with Schiano's Miami connections.
Of any school in the Nation that has the ability to emerge, its Rutgers. New Jersey has great HS talent, but RU could never get any of 'em. If they can start mining that talent, then they can turn from doormat to decent program.
