Big Ten Conference Divisions

Ah, there are those "independent observers" again, always making sure Nebraska's tradition gets its due!

Sorry, but any rivalry game pales in comparison to the big one called The Game, though I guess seeing such a good one go the way of the dodo could be used as a cautionary tale for the Big Ten powers-that-be.
Of course it pales in comparison - to an OSU or UM fan. That's the only place that argument's true though. I'm at least trying to be "partially" objective here, I'd have said that the NU-OU used to be bigger, and cited "The Game of The Century" etc, but I'm giving OSU-UM equal status! :wink2: :tongue2:

They're big rivalries, but they don't usually play them as season enders as far as I remember.

OK, since I'm bored at work...

The Illi/NW has been the last conference game for the 2 since 1999. Wisconsin and Minnesota played at the end in 2001, 02, 07, and 08, so that's been more sporadic. Either way, they're good ones to end on, so they could really have a hell of a final week.

The Neb-Okla game was a great rivalry that got screwed up when the Big XII was created. I did point that out in my e-mail to Gene Smith.

Let's not get into a pissing contest about just how great it was. There's enough going on in this thread.

Well, really it isn't...there's a reason that OSU/UM makes the very top or near top of almost all major SPORTS (not just football) top 10/25 lists. This rivalry may be regional in nature (as they pretty much all are) but it takes a back seat to no rivalry...

And a new Nebraska rivalry game can be played on the Friday after Thanksgiving, where the Neb-Colo game has been for the last 10 years. That spreads out the TV schedule a bit.

Yep, the ruination of that rivalry should be "Exhibit A" for doing everything possible to keep the OSU-UM rivalry intact.

Just saying a rivalry with only a couple decades of national relevance (70s and 80s) absolutely does pale in comparison to The Game which is widely considered the top rivalry in all of sports. Nobody but a Husker/Sooner fan would suggest otherwise.

Helmets are lined up across from likely crossover games. Smoke screen? maybe.

Fucking idiots!!

And to some of you younger Buckeye fans, stop with the god damned rationalizations. There are absolutely times where The Game will now be used as a fucking bye week to prepare for a CCG (and very soon, fucking playoffs). Quit telling me that "Tressel would never do that". He may not, but the guy after him sure as fuck will. Hell John Cooper would have, so shut the fuck up. Christ!

It is plainly evident. As we move more towards an NFL style of organizing college football, what the fuck do you think is going to happen? It's going to start resembling the fucking NFL. I warned about this repeatedly years ago in the "playoffs in college football" threads here, and was not taken seriously. It's here. It's going to happen. And it's fucking horrible.

Hey, at least in the years when we both suck, The Game will 'mean' something...:roll1:
