Big Ten Conference Divisions

and when he's done with that he can blow me.

It's called The Game.

Singular.

Not The Game(s).

[censored] whomever from OSU that agreed with this right in the ass.

The first one would be The Game.

The second one would be THE GAME.

:2004:

Ohio State and Michigan need to be in the same division...period. :osu:

Maybe I missed something already covered but is there some reason why they had to decide between playing it in October and separate divisions?

Why couldn't OSU and scUM be in the same division and play the last regular season game of the year?

I just can't get over the stupidity of this bullshit. Wooo lets play a meaningless game the last fucking game of the year. Only to play it again once every 5-10 years. The only way I was going to be happy was same division, last game. This is what happens when you get someone to run your conference that spent zero time in the Big Ten before he was hired. Way to ruin the rivalry you piece of human excrement. I hope Delaney gets in the way of a rabid wolverine and then chokes on a buckeye.
Piece of shit.

It's the last week of the season. Ohio State has their division locked up. Michigan has their division locked up. Both are guaranteed to show up in the CCG. How exciting is that worthless regular season game going to be? How hard are they going to play knowing they'll have to play it again the very next week...only this time for real?

It's the last week of the season. Ohio State has their division locked up. Michigan has no shot whatsoever of making it to the CCG. Nebraska is a legit top 10 team, as is Ohio State. How hard are we going to play in the meaningless regular season game against Michigan to prevent injuries?

It's the last week of the season. Ohio State has their division locked up. Michigan needs to win this game to get into the CCG. How hard is Ohio State going to play knowing they could very well be playing this same Michigan team again a week later...only this time for real?

I ass/u/med that they would. Did anyone say that they wouldn't?

I don't know. I assume they would too. As long as they do there should be more drama to the last game, as I think there is more opportunity for one of the teams involved to be get in or get knocked out of the game, unless of course they both come in undefeated in the big 10, which I don't think will happen that often. 1 every 10 years? Even if they do there could be a 1 loss team that would jump the loser somehow. I think it will work. Or at least I just convinced myself it would.

There's a discussion about it a few pages back, but in essence my idea was that if you play an inter-divisional game the final week of the season, in this case The Game, then you run the risk of having a game that literally means absolutely nothing.

Imagine a year when Ohio State and Michigan go into the final game of the season already having clinched their divisions but also having no real shot at making it to the NCG (think two 10-1 teams with an undefeated BigXII and SEC team ranked ahead of them). There would be literally ZERO reason to play the game as a win or a loss by either team doesn't benefit or hurt anyone.

Scenario

1. This will rarely happen, there could be a 1 loss team (as long as the tie breaker isn't head to head) that could take the spot of the loser in the CCG

2. If you want to win the NC you have to win that game.

3. OSU would want to win to try to win the NC assuming they have 1 loss or less. Plus having the pleasure of keeping SCUM out of the CCG is great motivation IMO.

It will be like NFL pre season games, the questions leading up will be how many series the starters get or if players with anything more serious than a cold will play at all.

A misguided Delany believes the occasional CCG rematch will be financially beneficial to the Big Ten.

Makes one wonder if Alvarez and Paterno are laughing right now, knowing that this diminishing of The Game will have a negative effect on tOSU and TSUN over time, and how hard they lobbied for this split in the first place.
