Big Ten Basketball Thread

Penn State got hosed last night when Purdue missed a shot with about 7 seconds to go and there was a scramble for the rebound and a Penn State guy grabbed the rebound only to have it knocked out of his hands by a Purdue player but a bad call by the referee gave the ball back to Purdue which led to them setting up Johnson's winning shot.

However after saying that, I think Johnson is probably the best all-around player in the Big Ten.

Fine example of what sticking around can do for a player.

He's made tremendous strides in his game.

Best play of the Purdue/Sparty game was when Ted Valentine had enough of Izzo's complaining so he had a little chat with him which was mostly one-sided and then headed down the court and Izzo said something and Valentine turned around and gave him the stop sign and not much was heard from Izzo the rest of the game:)

And Josh Gasser becomes the first Badger to ever record a triple-double. 10 points, 11 rebounds, 10 assists.

Go figure.

goofiest player to ever record a triple double?

Spartans admitting to spoiler role?

Picked as its preseason No. 1, Michigan State is no longer the Big Ten favorite. The Lansing State Journal wrote that the Spartans' Draymond Green admitted after Saturday night's loss to Purdue that the Big Ten title is "probably out of reach" barring anything short of a miracle. "Whoever is still in the Big Ten race," Green told The State Journal, "we're gonna try to make their lives miserable." There's little reason to doubt that the Spartans will do that, but that's not the role Michigan State was expected to play this year.

Just switched to BTN Korie Lucious out at Michigan State.

Michigan State guard Korie Lucious has been dismissed from the Spartans basketball team for the remainder of the season, coach Tom Izzo announced late Tuesday.

"Unfortunately, Korie Lucious displayed conduct detrimental to the program," Izzo said. "My focus is on this team for the remainder of the season.”

Lucious also released a statement.

“I didn’t live up to the standards of the program," he said. "Unfortunately, I let my teammates, my coaches, and myself down, and wish them the best for the rest of the season."
