They had me hooked right up 'till the nuetral site bullshit. I want to play in the Swamp, in Death Valley, etc. And I sure as hell don't want to play any more "home" games in another stadium. Why would I want to live in the guest house when I have a mansion, ya know?

Yeah. But I'd like to see it happen, so I'd take even that. It would be cool to follow that up with an SEC vs ACC and then an SEC vs PAC-10 deal. Imagine the interest it would bring, and the decades of smack talk and analysis.

I agree, that would be great - and just huge in terms of interest, ratings and money.

The biggest issue I see is the matchups. How do you determine the matchups? And if we're talking about only a two-year thing, I think you need to schedule different matchups each year.

I like the idea. The neutral sites kind of stink, but I understand the logic behind it (if it brings in more money, commissioners are more likely to take a good look at it). Perhaps this could kick off a tradition of BCS schools doing interconference challenges over the first three weeks of the season (i.e. Big Ten-SEC week one, Big XII-ACC week two, PAC 10-Big East week three). The ratings and money would be huge (and money, ultimately, is what drives the decision making process).

Texas academia still wish to join the Big 10. I know I've heard all the arguments about their location, but frankly, in terms of academics (which is a huge part of the equation whether anyone realizes it or not), they are close to an ideal fit. Their ability to enter the library network and data/knowledge sharing for research would be valuable to Texas and they are one of the few institutions that could benefit the Big 10.

Perhaps they could just join the Academic Big 10 and we could keep the 11 football teams as-is, but I doubt UT would want that.

You know, the best shot at getting this to happen would be to circumvent all the TV networks that already have their hands in the honey pot and find a new partner that would pay handsomely for a one-shot, one-weekend cash windfall.

NBC.

Additionally, if you go around the ABC/ESPN monopoly and pitch an SEC/Big-10 challenge to NBC, say NBC gets their choice of three or four marquee games, you've still got over half a dozen games to throw your existing contract partners like CBS, ABC/ESPN, the BTN, and Raycom/or the proposed SEC channel a bone. Plus, if you go to NBC (which has a long proud history of overpaying for sports events), you could then also work in Notre Dame as an honorary 12th Big-10 team to have a complete slate of games.
