SMU sounds like a pretty desperate move. Why wouldn't they consider UNLV. There's some basketball history there, and football might actually show some promise in the PAC. Plus, it fits in regionally and Vegas has grown into a substantial market. Academics aren't anything, but the PAC already has OSU, WSU and ASU and is considering taking a Cal State campus, so I think that ship has sailed.

SDSU and SMU seems like a desperate move. You're the Pac 10/12... go take Texas Tech and Baylor.
I wouldn't touch Baylor with a 50,000 foot pole, based on all the crap they've done. If you're the PAC, I think SDSU might actually make some sense. I think Texas Tech would be fine, except there's no other presence anywhere close to that, so it would be a road trip to the middle of nowhere. I think ORD has a point, I might look at UNLV and Nevada for geographic and market reasons....bring them both in and make it a real rivalry. If they can't get them, I'm not sure who else is left that would make any kind of impact besides a perennial doormat. Colorado State?

UNLV makes a TON of sense. Quick list of Pros and Cons.

1). PAC12 immediately confirms that Vegas and the Raiders Stadium hosts their CCG for the next 5-10 years. Bright Lights, Big City vibe and their commish has ALOT of former connections there.

2). UNLV is at least competitive in Basketball

Cons:

1). Apparently UNLV is not a great academic school. This kinda goes against the PAC12 Vibe (but IDK how good the Oregon schools are so who knows?).

2). This really doesn't help their Media rights negotiations. Which is where the real money comes from.

At this point, there is nobody out there that actually drives media viewership. All they're trying to do is add inventory so they can sell more games. In that sense, there's really no difference between UNLV, SMU and SDSU. They all provide the same function. UNLV makes way more sense for regional reasons than does SMU (which in no way even remotely delivers the Dallas metro). With UNLV, you really don't need UNR since Vegas is most of the Nevada market these days, and Reno isn't much of a market in the first place.

Cincinnati, Youngstown, Cleveland, Canton, Dayton, and Springfield Ohio all on the list. The only other state I see with more than one is Florida with two. Is OSU that good because of of the local talent, or is all the local talent that good because of OSU?
Two words:

It's ironic that Cincy is so prolific in producing MLB talent when they're stuck with the goddamn Reds.

I don't know.. young Cincinnati kids grow up playing little league and probably think, I'm already better than a lot of these cocksuckers. Makes the goal of being a major league player seem more attainable

Like everything about Cincy, things are about 60 years behind the times, so it makes sense that baseball culture is still thriving there.
