Oklahoma's home game this week is on ESPN+. All I can say is thank fucking god we didn't sign on with that shit show. I wouldn't care so much if it were Disney plus; i would buy it for the month and watch some other movies or shows, but fucking ESPN+ is worthless garbage. Just throwing away $5.

I understand that we may see our game every once a season on peacock, but at least that's a streaming service with some value, and I'll fit it into my streaming service rotation. Part of it is ESPN has a lot of channels, but they have deals with every freaking conference and that is way too much content. They will always prioritize the sec and to a lesser extent the acc, everyone else will see a lot of games on ESPN+.
I signed up with ESPN+ to watch Columbus Crew games a few years ago. Never saw a single game. Not one. Every Crew game was blacked out in Columbus. Fucking garbage. Put up with that shit for 2 months and cancelled when I realized I wasn't crazy.

But yeah, agree with you Tampa. ESPN's a sinking ship and our new 3-headed media deal is a freaking masterstroke

The funny thing is the games somehow aren’t blacked out if you have the Hulu/Disney/ESPN package. Make it make sense. Also, it’s 2022, blackout rules are outdated.

I live in NYC, so blackouts aren't an issue for me. I wish I could just get a subscription to whatever the networks that show the Indians/Guardians and Reds are called nowadays.

I mentioned this in another thread but I believe the problem for USC and UCLA is the changing demographics in LA county which has led to a less fertile recruiting base and a drop in attendance.

Football is a black/white sport for the most part and without that demographic it's going to be tough to field a competitive team. You can see in the chart, the black and white populations in LA county have been decreasing while the Latino population has been rising. I think this a very real issue that no one wants to say out loud but it's relevant. Moving to the BIG will help their recruiting and get more TV exposure which will increase their revenues. I'm not sure what they're going to do about attendance because during the best of times LA is full of fair weather fans and if you're not winning no one is going to come to the games. I can honestly see the Pac reclassifying into a mid major in the not too distant future. The decline has been dramatic in both football and basketball.

Noticing demographic differences when it comes to preferences is terrible?
When I came to Phoenix 25 years ago there were four different high schools I could walk to on Friday nights and the bleachers would be full and the quality of football right up there with just about anywhere. Now you drive past those same schools on game night and there's barely anyone there. The area where I live has become Boomerville and the city has to bus in students from the Latino part of town to fill the schools. The new immigrant population isn't in to football, they prefer "futbol". Most don't have the genetics to play at a high level, they're much shorter and not built for the game. It's just fact. How many NFL players were born in Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras or El Salvador?

Now they can fill their stadiums with big ten transplants.
