Clemson's not an AAU school and Josh Pate is an SEC schill for the most part with his college football commentary, so I don't trust any if this. With that said though, this is outside the box of everything we have been hearing and thinking the last few days

Not going to happen...ever. And if this guy is an SEC shill then like every other SEC shill he is completely ignorant (or willfully dismissive) of the B1G's academic component and requirement. B1G wants UVA and UNC in that part of the country. SEC wants Clemson, and Clemson is a perfect fit for the SEC.

I don't see it either, but Clemson does seem to be the hot rumor right now. Notre Dame+1 (Oregon or Stanford) then some combo of ACC schools, some usual suspects (UNC, UVa, GT) with some I wouldn't expect (Clemson, Miami).

Just a thought - The ACC didn't keep up with the SEC for whatever reasons - UVA, UNC, Duke, have been driven by academics for some time is one thought - happy to be a basketball-first conference is another. As a result, ACC stadiums compare more with Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers, and Northwestern - Maybe the ACC would be happy to settle into a Div 1B football conference, happily letting Miami, FSU, and Clemson find their way into the SEC, while remaining the premier basketball conference. I don't think the SEC or the BIG is interested in playing more games in stadiums that hover around 60K.

Someone on the MWC board says he has a journalist contact who says the Domers have come up with their "non-negotiable" demands. Take it for what it's worth, but it's certainly consistent with their history, arrogance and MO.

They demand a California game every year (giving them an unfair advantage in access and exposure to California recruiting).
They demand to be in a pod with tsun, Sparty and Purdue (attempting to undermine and lessen The Game)
They demand that none of their home games be on the BTN (creating the perception that they are superior to the rest of the conference)

I see where you're coming from as far as the ACC being the B-tier to the SEC. But I do think they're going to take ACC schools sooner or later. And if we're looking at stadium sizes the only programs over 70,000 seats that are not currently in or committed to the B1G or the SEC are: Clemson, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Washington.

I assumed they would be in a pod with MSU, IU, Purdue and either Illini/NW. Pretty easy to get to the title game depending on which pod they are playing that year.

Pods don't work at 18. My hunch is that, if we go beyond 16, we'll adopt a non-divisional model like the AAC just did. Rotating balanced schedules and 3 protected rivalry games. Domers could still get their California games by burning off two for USC and Stanford, but they'd need to pick 1 of tsun, sparty and boiler.

We could do pods at 20.

Western: USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon & Washington
West Midwest: Corn, Minny, Wiscy, Iowa and Illinois
East Midwest: Purdue, Northwestern, Indiana, Sparty and Domer
East: Ohio State, TSUN, Pedsters, Rutgers, Maryland

But I still think we shouldn't.
