SEC ACCIDENTALLY ANNOUNCES MISSOURI TO SEC

In what may go down as the most ridiculous aspect of conference realignment, the SEC had everything prepared on their website to announce Missouri as the 14th member of the conference set to begin play in 2012. Those pages weren't supposed to be accessible by the public. Except they were. Uh oh. The publication date on the article's release is 10/22, this past Saturday. But the article references Monday as the date of the official announcement. So whether that was supposed to be this past Monday or this coming Monday, OKTC became aware of the posting this evening thanks to a Twitter tip. Honestly, you guys are our eyes and ears. I read everything you guys send me, even the "your gay" jokes.

Around 10:30 PM a Mizzou follower who requested anonymity tipped me off to the existence of these pages on the SEC Network.

He said he was tipped off by a posting on this message board.

Multiple Missouri fans have also emailed saying a poster on their message board became aware these pages existed when he searched "Missouri" on the SEC website.

Regardless of how the pages became available, it's a major goof. And one I knew that the SEC would immediately seek to rectify once I requested a comment from the league office.

Before I posted this column I also tweeted out the link for all of you to see. The SEC quickly took down the pages -- confirming it was legit -- but I've reproduced all of the text for you below. Friday morning SEC spokesperson Charles Bloom commented on the matter via his Twitter account: "Web vendor made mistake. No agreement between SEC and Missouri.?

This is the modern day version of the dog ate my homework.

As the Big XII Turns:

Report: Big 12 Decides To Add West Virginia, Not Louisville To The Conference

West Virginia University has been officially invited to join the Big 12 Conference sources have told Brett McMurphy of CBS Sports.

It was initially reported earlier this week that West Virginia?s acceptance to the Big 12 was all but a formality; however last minute lobbying by Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell and others on behalf of Louisville delayed the final decision until this morning. West Virginia?s entrance to the conference is pending the departure of Missouri to the SEC, which is expected to happen within weeks.

The departure of West Virginia marks the fourth major team to make the decision to leave the Big East, after Pittsburgh, Syracuse and TCU announced intentions to leave for greener pastures earlier this year. With this latest loss, only Connecticut, Rutgers, USF, Cincinnati and Louisville will remain as members the conference?s football league.

As part of their departure, West Virginia must pay a $5 million exit fee. CBS Sports reports that this number could have been as high as $10 million if the school had announced their intention to leave after the Big East adds either Navy or Air Force. Big East commissioner John Marinatto reportedly met with Navy, Air Force and several other schools last week in an attempt to bolster the conference's football presence.

Delaney has gotten what he wanted all along. The Big East is in shambles and thus ND is looking for a landing spot. Not only that but it's hard to argue that the Big Ten had anything to do with the fall of the Big East. Now it all comes down to ND's pride.

At this point, I see the B1G holding at 12.

ND to park all 'non-revenue' sports in the ACC or Big 12 and maintain FB independence - they are arrogant enough to do that.

The only somewhat realistic additional members that would not water down the B1G would be Tejas and ND, and I just don't see that happening.

"We're monitoring, that's all we're doing," he said. "People can ask us if we're in the conversation, but I'm telling you we're not in the conversation. Everybody else in the country is in the conversation, but we're not. And you can't make us (be) in the conversation if we're not in the conversation.

"And you can't make me respond to hypotheticals. If someone calls from a school in Puerto Rico or California or Alaska or whether it's Indiana State, I'm not answering those questions. If someone calls and says: 'I want to have a private conversation with you; will you keep it confidential?' I won't say: 'Yeah, except for the press day for the men's basketball tipoff classic.'"
