That's the key. They really want that CCG. Don't let any posturing say different.

Remember, they're still getting the CCG money right now despite losing the actual gamef when Colorado & Nebraska left.

There isn't a need for them to go to 12 right now, doing so would actually decrease the per team payout.

I think BYU ends up there soon, anyway. I don't buy for a second that BYU's independence is a permanent thing, nor do I think they want to remain independent.

Right now the Big XII is:

Texas
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
Texas Tech
Baylor
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State

Coming in: TCU

Possibly going out: Missouri

Possibly coming in: Louisville/West Virginia - BYU?

Keeping the current gang intact, plus adding TCU means nine teams (not counting Missouri). If Mizzou stays they have ten, then they can add their choice of WVU/Louisville and BYU, and get back to their CCG they love so dearly.

The darkhorse in this situation is Cincinnati. Louisville and UC have been linked for a long time. I know all the limitations, but the greater Cincinnati area brings more TV viewers to the equation. I see them going ahead of BYU. Not saying it is likely, just throwing it out there. There has been some radio scuttlebutt about this, in Cincinnati. Nothing concrete just whispers. UC is a better overall school than WVU.

UC's newly hired athletic director comes from Missouri. So he is familiar with the Big 12.

UC is in deep financial doo doo, after recklessly spending money on a football product that no one except juggalos and grillz wearers want to see. Their stadium is tiny. They can't realistically compete at an AQ level in the long run.

For which years is that the case? And is the lawyer that reviewed and OK'd that agreement for the networks still employed?

I know that ESPN agreed to continue the same overall payout to the Big XII, despite there being less teams, but ESPN will still be showing 18 games each season.

Fox gets at least 40 games, and that doesn't seem to include any CCG. I'm not sure if Fox has made the same commitment about continuing the same payout. It would seem to me that a CCG would mean extra money for the conference.

I don't like the idea at all of the Big 12-3 powers being able to regularly play in Ohio, "impress" recruits by hanging 50 points on UC and gain recruiting inroads.

The attorneys who probably helped prevent schools from jumping to conferences which ESPN has less access to? Or by ensuring that ESPN avoided potential damning information released during the discovery phase of lawsuits over contract interference?

Yeah they're probably still employed.

FWIW the NCAA would have to make a rule change for that to be possible. Currently there is no provision for intra conference tournament games outside of a championship. I don't know if there would be enough support for that to be allowed or not.
