Aggy getting voted down would be even funnier than what happened to Mizzou, but less funny than how Oklahoma publicly declared themselves to be Texas' bitch last year.

it happened, SEC says they're fine at 12 and won't add A&M

"“The SEC Presidents and Chancellors met today and reaffirmed our satisfaction with the present 12 institutional alignment. We recognize, however, that future conditions may make it advantageous to expand the number of institutions in the league. We discussed criteria and process associated with expansion. No action was taken with respect to any institution including Texas A&M.”"

<insert into SEC language translator>

"We fought about who in the Hell the other team would be until we got so mad we all went home."

This is pretty funny. The more I think about it, the more I am kind of leaning towards the idea that 16 team conferences are probably not sustainable in the long term. I think that 12 might be the optimal number.

Was checking out a Kansas forum (some of them want B10 if the B12 falls apart, and I agree) and this Chip Brown character from Orangebloods.com is reporting the SEC are lining up the 14th member before any announcements regarding A&M are made. To be wrapped up in the next three weeks apparently.

Interesting read.

This writer says that the ESPN contract with the Big-12 has a provision which states that the contract is voidable upon the number of B12 members institutions becoming less than ten (10). And so - ESPN has an "issue" if it agrees to welcome the Aggies into the SEC fold with the new TV deal the SEC will insist on....as in doing so ESPN would be actively working to void its other contract with the Big 12.

Uh oh! It looks like there might be a conflict a brewing. Could the Big XII then sue if aTm leaves for the SEC? It might be a stretch but they might argue ESPiN worked against them in turn killing the conference. I'm sure Houston would love to take aTm's place. HAHAHAHA!

Did Colorado get sued for leaving for the PAC-12?

Did Nebraska get sued for leaving for the B1G?

Nope. There are specified amounts that teams must pay a conference if they leave it, and the amounts usually vary depending on whether it happens 1 year or 2 years from the announcement.

With the Big XII, the real question is "When they lose 4 to 6 more teams (aTm to the SEC, Okla/OklaSt/2 others to the PAC, and Mizzou to the B1G/SEC - will Texas, Baylor, Kansas State, and Iowa State actually be able to collect those departure penalties by still calling themselves a conference? That is likely to end up as a lawsuit.
