I'm no lawyer but, would cause me serious, serious pause if I was. I mean, this whole thing is held together with smiles and handshakes. Even the alleged TV deals are not written down.

Wait a second.... I am a lawyer. What the fuck?

I'm surprised that you'd be unhappy with something being pledged orally.

Rumors swirling that Memphis will announce move to Big East this week. Sounds as though they're sabotaging our sabotage to force out the domers.

If we do end up taking two of three from Pitt, Syracuse and Rutgers what a joke that conference will be. It will essentially have become the CUSA+WVU.

I don't think that has much if any effect on Notre Dame's outlook. In terms of football, Memphis only drags the Big East further below the mean. When 16-team superconferences come to pass, the Big East will be shut out and a few of their OK football programs assimilated regardless of whether or not they have Memphis.

The Big East's best chance for survival as a football conference is to find a way to force out ND rather than finding ways to keep them around.

Our commissioner won't kiss their inner thigh to get them, is basically saying we're not really considering them anymore. Notre Dame is a chick that likes to play hard to get, as soon as you turn the attention off of her she gets all upset.

Well, I for one would have loved to have had them in the Big 10. I know we are Newbies and you guys are sick of their antics, but I think they are the perfect fit by culture and geographics. Could have been a sweet conference had you added them and Rutgers.

it is now "we" as you folks are a part of the conference (or soon to be)!

ND loves playing the hot/cold game with the Big Ten and vice versa. When BCS conferences start going beyond 12 members, ND will be "forced" to join a conference for football or risk becoming irrelevent. They can play "hard to get" all they want, but they know when they're choosing between the Big East, ACC, and Big Ten for whom to align, the Big Ten is the best fit for them and has the most to offer them to improve them as a school: academically, athletically, and monetarily.

I don't think the doors well ever be completely closed to ND joining the Big Ten, but if they do close, it will be because ND thinks they are above joining a conference. In the meantime, the Big Ten will give them every chance to join. The big question is when the Big Ten finally gets to 15 teams, what will ND do when they finally get that final ultimatum?
