Already retracted.

Yall see what I have to put up with?? :smash: I really don't see how anyone will be able to take these guys seriously, they tried to scoop the nation and could get burned very badly.

More and more I miss Spielman and his realistic view on life.:oh:

Texas turns down Pac-10; Big 12 schools have framework of deal

05:41 PM CDT on Monday, June 14, 2010

By CHUCK CARLTON / The Dallas Morning News

The remaining Big 12 members are close to a remarkable comeback that will ensure the conference's viability of 10 members a source familiar with the negotiations told The Dallas Morning News.

Several small details need to be ironed out, but the framework of an agreement appeared to be in place Monday afternoon.
Pac-10 Commissioner Larry Scott confirmed that the University of Texas has declined an invitation to join the conference. The decision will preserve the Big 12 as a 10-team conference, assuming Texas A&M elects to remain. Texas A&M officials were deliberating Monday afternoon...

In an interesting twist... just stated on Galloway & Co. (ESPN Dallas) that ESPN may be the network throwing money in to save the B12 (and give UT its own network)... if so, that's somewhere between hilarious and infuriating... in a deal where UT, OU and aTm each get $20-$25 million and other schools get ~$14 million... anyways, just typing what they're saying (the dudes on the radio are pissed)

The BigXII is a house of cards - and now OU has come out and basically admitted they're riding UTs coattails. aTm sticking with the conference would basically be saying the same thing. I can't believe so many schools would roll over for Texas. Pathetic.

Also, it's been mentioned before, but how does a 10-team BigXII make any more TV money than a 12-team league? They've lost the states of CO and NE and NE's sizable fan base. How feasible is Bevo Network anyway? Are they really expecting cable companys in the big TV markets to shell out $$ to watch Texas beat up on a crippled conference?

Thats crazy of ESPN... but in the end it saves them money probably from having to big for super conferences business.... and it wouldn't surprise me if its true.

I think it's funny that the ONLY part of this whole realignment story that ESPN has been on top of in a timely manner is the pending TV deal that Dan Beebe was able to pull out of his rear end. Hmmm... I wonder where that came from?

Bevo network will sell in any city in Texas... thats about it. I see them trying to command more money from the operators than the Big 10... and I don't see the cable companies giving in without putting it on a sports tier... even in Texas.
