Nebraska regents first opened the floor for public comments. There were none. They will now go into a closed session for discussion on conference alignment, then come back for an open session and open vote. There are eight regents, with five to pass.

Now we get to wait another couple of hours... great. Right when I should leave work they will be coming out to announce what they did.

Damn it... I get to 'work' OT today!!!!

In some other news: University of Texas regents will meet next week to decide whether the Longhorns will remain in the Big 12 or switch to another conference.

The regents announced Friday that they will hold a meeting by telephone Tuesday for "discussion and appropriate action regarding athletic conference membership."

And that is the BIGGEST news so far today... The Texas decision is NEXT week.

Shit... another week of wasted worker productivity... dang it

Question.....

Wouldn't 4 divisions of 4 make most sense to get Texas and ND and to ensure a balanced schedule?

It lets you play your 3 divisional foes, then that division plays another....just like the NFL rotating schedule works. That's 3 games against your division and 4 against the other, so that's 7 games. That ensures balance for everyone in the division.

This also allows for 5 OOC games, which Texas and ND and others would like to ensure their rivalry games are ensured to remain intact.

If you go to two divisions of 8, that's 7 games but then you don't get the marquee matchups that you want.
If we add ND, Texas, and Nebraska, I honestly think the best solution would be to not have any divisions and instead perhaps seed the schedules based on the previous years results, like the NFL does.

It would ensure matchups fans want to see, it would ensure variation year to year, it would make for stronger football teams at the top, which should in turn be more competitive in their bowls, and it'd give Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State and Minnesota the illusion that they can compete for something and shouldn't drop football.

Really, if Minnesota is slotted in a west division with Texas, Notre Dame, and Nebraska, not to mention already having to deal with Wisconsin and Iowa, and having the trophy game with Michigan, they're screwed. They will never, ever go to a bowl game again.

Why doesn't the B10 bring in KU and MU? KU would add a another top level program to the mix in basketball. MU and KU's rivalry is very heated as well. I go to MU, so that's also another reason why I want them in the B10.

Television dollars. Solid programs, but not "home runs" like Texas and Notre Dame and Nebraska (national followings).
