NUWildcats: Texas has been playing ball with the Big Ten all along (or for at least as long as I have been privy and well before that. The story is absolutely fascinating). The worry is that they now backstab the Big Ten for some reason to the Pac-10.

If A&M ends up in the SEC, it is the original dream scenario they have planned for: Texas, Nebraska, and ND to the Big Ten.

The question surrounded whether A&M could split up with Texas and go somewhere else. Some sort of contingent offer has been given to Missouri. The Big Ten may end up with 15, though it prefers 14.

Much of what I've read the last couple days makes it seem like getting Texas would result in getting ND after that. If the UT-aTm story is true, then I expect there to be one more wave - ND + Missouri.

Man oh man this has been a rollercoaster.

If the forces that be end up with the Big Ten grabbing:

Nebraska, Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri and Notre Dame

The B16TEN states should legislate a new "Jim Delaney's Bonus Check" tax equal to 5 million over the next 2 years.

I'm still a bit iffy about that KC report however, but you're right. If UT/A&M is the second wave, there will either be no third wave or it WILL be Mizzou/ND.

Sounds like he is backing down a bit.

I cannot even imagine the deals that are being cut right now. Aggie would be crazy to go to the SEC. LSU is already invading their corner of Texas for recruits.

I understand how you could say that first part, but I see it another way. I see him as always telling people "this is what I am hearing, how the process has gone and what the intended results were." I don't see him saying "this is happening." He is answering a question presented to him about how confident the Big 10 is and how far along negotiations are.

He is calling it 15 or 14 based upon Tamu and to me he still feels Texas will go to the B10.

That's how I read it.

I saw that rumor/report early this afternoon, and dismissed it out of hand because ESPN has clearly been behind the curve the entire time on conference expansion.

I really don't see UNC leaving the ACC. I also don't see aTm and Texas being split. I think if the rumors about the two Texas schools going to the Big Ten are true, Oklahoma & VT to the SEC become fairly likely.

MAN, could you imagine the Red River Rivalry becomeing a BigTen/SEC battle year after year?!

WHOOOOO DOGGIES this is getting more fun by the hour. It's good to be associated with the person (Delaney) in the driver's seat in all of this.
