If NDs real concern is being left out of a 16 team Big Ten there is certainly no urgency to move other than the option to act while their bargaining position is at its strongest.

And for those that don't bother with the link ... the juicy bit about Notre Dame.
Once again, Notre Dame appears reluctant to do what's best for their academic's because of the football team.
Whew. Finally! Chris Mortensen ... a credible source!BB73;1714022; said:Chris Mortensen is reporting that Nebraska AD Tom Osborne has informed his staff that the school is moving to the Big Ten, per the ESPN ticker.

I'm sure that "conversation" is out there... but... it's a bluff, if swarbrick is even playing that card.... he's in, he just needs to make it look good, and for the some ND faithful, there's no worse fate that being an "equal" partner in the Big Ten.
Other one is... that swarbrick really is interested in keeping the Big East together... so... this is really jsut a Big East/ACC unification offshoot.

The ONLY way that the Big 10 stops at 12 is if Notre Dame joins the conference.
Otherwise, we're looking at 16.
If the Big 10 can pull off Texas and A&M, then we'd probably get Notre Dame and either Mizzou or Maryland/Rutgers. If the Big 10 whiffs on Texas, say bye-bye to the Big East
We've heard many predictions of imminent announcements, but when does it actually take effect? Next season?
