Here in Austin as well. Heard yesterday on KLBJ jeff ward show that gov Perry (an aggie) prefers the SEC for A&m. He is supposedly meeting with UT & AtM presidents by the end of the week...
Aggies fit in perfectly in the SEC. UT on the other hand...

Being a hour from UT's campus and 1 1/2 from College Station I can say that everyone around here is pro SEC and not concerned about academics. It may be different in Austin but I'm pretty sure College Station will be happy as long as they can rub each others backs and sway back and fourth before kickoffs. Really wierd traditions. You have to see it to get an appreciation.

Being 45 minutes south of Waco.... nevermind, I just told some Baylor grads about all this.

Do they make dancing ears of corn?

Good point. I nominate Dublin as a location for the signing ceremony.

for UT fans it depends on who you talk to... most of the ones that graduated seem to realize that joining the SEC would only ruin their degrees, the tee shirt alumni (people who went to Texas State etc) prefer the SEC just due to the football. Basebuck your right A&M's got some wierdo's going over there, but I think there is very little chance they break those two up, A&M has a pretty decent academic standing.

I want to say fine... send A&M to the SEC because that should mean the end of the Texas 4. However I am nervous as all get out that idiots like Perry would want Texas to the SEC, too, for athletic reasons and forget about the impact of research and funding which means more financially and for reputation as a university than athletics can ever mean.

At this point I am wishing the Texas 4 or 3 go to the Pac 10 just to freeze the SEC from having a chance at Texas.
