A response that showed up after you posted the analogy.

Funny analogy but you're missing some parts. In the case of the SEC, you have a pretty but battered wife who while always being attractive, has just now become relevant to the junior league after two decades of hosting local bingo tournaments after her Bear died. The Pac-10 is the girl that looks good from far...but is far from good. Yes, she has a great ass, but he [censored] sag, face has wrinkles and she's about to get her BMW drop top repossessed. Then you have the Big 10, and while she may have feelings for that Catholic Boy, she did say no to him first (ND wanted into the Big 10 decades ago but got turned down) and while she later realized that he was right for her, she also knows that other Mr. Rights exists and she seems to have a soft spot in her heart for the big dick swinging southern man who can both satisfy her need for financial growth and [censored] her like the two dollar whore she fantasizes of being.

I'm sure Delany will appreciate the two dollar whore comparison. :wink2:

Classic bitter and delusional bearkitten letter to The Dispatch. Do yourself the favor and read all the way through the comments. Bearkitty absolutely gets schooled, then he shows up to try and defend himself and gets schooled some more.

Smackdown, go ahead and give it to me.

I find it interesting that the guy in the comments section pushing UC so far (Randy or whatever his name is) happens to be from Nerk.

And that "Randy's" comments correspond with Buckyle's "job-related" disappearance from these boards. . . .

Nah - actually I was going more for the point that UC and Nerk (at least some of the people I've worked with) have somewhat of an inferiority complex when it comes to Columbus/Ohio State at times.

Buckizzle would kick that guys ass

I saw this classic gem on a UT forum in response to an SEC fan trying to convince Texas fans that they should be in the SEC

link

Who cares if Texas was a southern state in the civil war, Austin and The University of Texas is a beacon of liberalism in this bible thumping state.
Add to the fact that there are million upon millions of transplants who live here now that no one gives a rats ass about southern pride/history

Are there UT fans who would like it if we joined the sec, yes there are but the overwhelming majority(based on polls and threads on all the major Texas fan sites) prefer the big 10, pac 10, stay in the big 12 then sec.

Now can you please send the memo out to all your sec chanting butt buddies to please stop making threads over here about this, we're tired of the multiple threads about it.

I don't really see what makes the Pac 10 such an attractive option for the Texas/Texas A&M. What do they bring that the Big Ten doesn't, outside of a slight increase in the director's cup standings and better foes in college baseball? Seriously??

Seriously? All of this because he gave one guess?

Sorry, that's garbage. Max doesn't have to provide a source to back up his guess, which was clearly stated as one.

When you declare things as done deals (when they are anything but, that responsibility falls to you.Exactly, except you have it backwards. Nebraska has to posture as much as possible, they aren't the pretty girl in the room. They're the girl you can land in 5 seconds after striking out on a few others. Ridiculous, but unsurprising at this point. It's not our job to argue your points for you.

Max tossed out a flippant guess which clearly was an opinion.

You came in with bravado declaring how everything was, and then demanded that everyone else find the proof (or lack thereof) of your argument.

All the while accusing everyone else of being lazy for not doing it for you. That's rich.
And Thad Matta is not leaving Xavier. You put way too much trust in media quotes, particularly ones which involve zero accountabilty. Very little is gained by honesty but much can be lost:

- lessen leverage for b10, p10, b12 negotiations
- burn bridges with b12 members/admins if you flirt then stay after all
- ratchet up the complications in politics if Texas was considering bolting without A&M
That might make sense if:

a) There was much pie in the first place. Their revenue streams are garbage and they are not a stable conference long-term.

b) There is more pie to be given away safely. The other members are already upset at the inequality in revenue, if you guarantee an extra 5-10 million to texas, they'll be furious, plus what do you do with Oklahoma?

This is a pretty well known and relevant topic. Try reading some Texas boards (hornfans.com is a good one) if you really are this naive about Texas politics.

The extent of the pressure, whether it would work and whether Texas would care is unknown, but it's a pretty common factor brought up in these discussions. What helps them and us is that Texas has grown politically since that time.

You are misrepresenting what I said, honestly.

I said Texas isn't interested. There are statments to that effect. I don't have time to argue every one of your points (I have a newborn in the house), but Let's just say that we disagree and neither one of us is going to disprove the other at this point, and neither of us will until a decision is made by the conference and the schools offered, but I trust that you will cop to it if I am proven right - I will certainly admit it if I am wrong.

Arizona, Arizona State, So Cal, Wild West meets Hollywood, possibly the West Coast TV market, better track, better tennis, better swimming, a conference with more national championships in all sports and they only have to beat USC to be top dog in football. Lose Kansas from their basketball schedule leaving them with a chance to finish first in both revenue sports. Seriously.

I love my Big 10 alma maters and as a whole I believe our academics and research should make us the choice for Texas and TAMU. But people are thinking about where they would want to go visit rather than the total academic and research packages from the various conference possibilities.

I, too, would rather live in or visit Arizona, Southern Cal, Seattle, the front range area (assuming Colorado bolts to the PAC-whatever) and the Bay Area to Bloomington, Champaign, Columbus, State College, Ann Arbor, etc. The amenities in terms of outdoor activities are nicer, the weather is better overall and as a general rule the girls are more attractive.

To each their own... but I am pulling hardcore for Texas to join the Big 10 (and would take TAMU to get them). My current hopefuls are Texas, ND, Nebraska, TAMU; and after those 4 the next one would be just icing on the cake.

Unless you're... you know... going to watch a football game.
