Bill, the DL is the place you ought to look. When high powered offenses fall on their face, it's usually because the front seven has disrupted the rhythm. That said, Wright, Black, Haden and Jenkins are all very talented players. Don't forget that UF also started some very young DBs against us in '06 as well.
Back to the thread.
Could prove to be true...but you're also talking about an offensive line that has two sure fire first round picks in Duke Robinson and Loadholt.
Add to that, many of Oklahoma's throws are short intermediate throws.
OU's receivers average the most YAC of any team in the country.
Will be interesting to see what happens with Demarco Murray, but he and Chris Brown are a terrific combination.
But back to UF and their heralded defense, which has played well, I can't take anything away from them.....their most recent opponents:
John Parker Wilson (Bama)...good year, but not great. Great WR in Julio Jones.
Christian Ponder (FSU)....game ruined due to rain. Couldn't throw football or attack outside when breaks can't be made by WR's
The Citadel....enough said
South Carolina....Smelley is smelly, and Garcia hasn't show anything
Vanderbilt...enough said
Georgia....good showing there. Although many would say Stafford is very overrated.
Kentucky.....no offense to the Hartline family...but not a test
LSU....joke of a situation until they found Jeffereson late in the year
Arkansas...Casey Dick sucks.
Ole Miss...Jevean Snead had a great day.
Tennessee...ouch
Miami (FL)....bad receivers, Marve very inconsistent
Hawaii...not Colt Brennan
I just don't think anyone can make the claim Sam Bradford is fucked. UF hasn't really proven it against a great offense yet. Some may claim Georgia, but Stafford has underperformed horribly this year.
Over the last 5 weeks, they haven't faced anything resembling the OU offense.
By the way...how many defenses held Texas Tech to under 24 points, and how many teams took a shit all over Missouri's offense?
Again, I think UF probably wins, b/c Tebow is a beast....but it is silly to rule OU out.
I think the championship has great potential to show UF's defense as fraudulent, and OU's defense as underrated.
