Best Restaurant/Steak House in Cbus?

In case you haven't noticed, Hyde Park keeps coming up...

I just wanted to point that out.

Seems like you are leaning "Steakhouse" so... I'd cross off Handke's and probably Lindy's too... Although, I think I did have a pretty goddamned good steak the last time I was at Lindy's... but its not a steakhouse per se... but they are just good at everything.

Anway... Hyde Park (And they do have a downtown location now, so closer to the arena) and you can get out of there in an hour and a half or so....

if you dont want to drop mega bucks try something a little more unique. try claddagh (irish) in the brewery district, gordon birsch (arena district) etc. its not like youre taking them to taco bell but it is def cheaper than a trip to M's/J Alexander/Fish Market etc.

I'd probably disagree with the lists so far. I've eaten at every steak house in Cbus more than once. The most over-rated - definitely Clarmont. That place sucks. They have no idea how to cook a steak to order, and their customer service sucks ass. Whoever said that earlier was spot-on.

Next over-rated - Smith & Wolinsky. This place also sucks. I think there is another one somewhere, but I've only been to the one at Easton. Over-priced for sub-average food. No way I'll ever go back.

Ruth's Criss (or however you spell it) - first filet mignon I've ever had that was more fat than meat. In fact, I don't remember ever having filet that had any fat. Service also sucked.

Mitchell's - average. About what you'd expect, good food, good service.

Hyde Park - best in Cbus, bar none, and it isn't a contest. Great atmosphere, great service, best steak in the city. They also have numerous options for steak (sauce, toppings, etc.).

The Precinct - best steak place in Ohio. It's in Cincinnati, and it's Jeff Ruby's original restaurant. You don't need either a knife or teeth to eat their steak. It's devine.

I agree that Hyde Park or Morton's are better choices than Mitchell's, unless you want lobster bisque...

You really can't go too wrong with any of the Cameron Mitchell restaurants, though. For Italian, I'd skip Bucca and head to Martini.

For really great pasta, though, try Due Amici, downtown on Gay Street.

Another great restaurant is G. Michael's in German Village.

Good suggestions. I was just thinking close to the Arena.

Edit: Just noticed this is my 500th post. Congrats to me.
