Best Restaurant/Steak House in Cbus?

Ate at Hyde Park with some friends the other night. To be honest, it didn't live up to my expectations. I would go for Smith and Wolensky's or Ruth's Chris before I go back to Hyde Park. Also, I haven't seen anyone mention The Top here (upon further review it seems as if 3 yards and a cloud did). It is old school as you can get. I would recommend it if you haven't been there. The food won't blow you away but the atmosphere is different than anything else. You literally feel like you walked into a restuarant in the 1950's.

Outside of Columbus though, nothing I've had compares to Mastro's Steakhouse in Scottsdale.

Hyde Park has never really impressed me. The Top is the best steak in cbus IMHO. Medium rare filet, mmmmmmmm, delicious.
Not a Hyde Park fan, either.

Barcelona in German Village is very good.

I've heard good things about the Refectory, but have never been there. Anyone tried it?

Mais oui! The Refectory est magnifique; ils servent la cuisine Francais tres excellent.

Pas de "freedom fries" au The Refectory, le bon Dieu merci.

Tried Barcelona this weekend. Has potential, but the food was very underseasoned. Even my husband salted his meal, and he never does that. Their risotto was bad as well. I'll try something different next time we come to Columbus.

BTW, what is with the annoying techno-pop-hipster music at restaurants in Columbus? Sounds like I should be shopping in a mall store that tries to be hip. At least 3 places we went to this weekend had it on. Trying too hard, I guess.

I know this may be blasphemy but I don't care.

I 've had steaks from Columbus to Colorado to Iowa and probably one of the best steaks I've ever had is the Ft. Worth Ribeye from Texas Roadhouse.

Barcelona is decent, the patio is great.

The Refectory is very good.

Since the closing of Handkes and Rosendales, I would say that Alana's just north of campus is at or near the top as far as best restaurants in Columbus.

The food is very, very good. I find the service to be about as snobbish as you would expect at a French restaurant. The decor is rather than dated. Really could use a remodel. Still a nice place to go for the food.

^^ this...one bonus is they know their cocktails there...probably one of the few places in Columbus to get a Sazerac.

I have been meaning to get to Barcelona for a long time time, but the Refectory is very good and their wine selection is second to none
