I'm late to the party and admit to not reading the entire thread but he was just ahead of Barry Sanders in college and if Bo Jackson hasn't been acknowledged here many times it is a travesty. The absolute best running back I have ever seen and without the hip injury who knows what kind of NFL numbers he could have produced.

It should also be noted that he is the only athlete in history to be All-Pro in football and an All-Star in major league baseball.

Not to criticize, but Peterson to me is a no brainer over DMAC. One year apart. The same speed, but Peterson had 10 pounds on him and just runs through people. I think that comparison is easy. Its when you compare those guys to Eddie, Ricky, Marshall etc from slightly different time frames.
Well, we are entitled to our own opinions. I believe that McFadden played tougher competition. McFadden was more durable. He rushed for more yards. He played in several different and unique formations. He played with less talent around him. And, he essentially had to carry the Arkansas football team for 2-3 years. Peterson was great, don't get me wrong. I just found McFadden to be more impressive.

Bush was a heck of a talented football player but he doesn't belong anywhere near a conversation about best running backs of all time.
Maybe not in a "Best of all Time," but this thread is about the best since Barry =) It's also not a thread about the best NFL back of all time, so it throws that discussion out the window, too much speculation in other replies on NFL carriers.
In college, Bush was much like Barry. He wasn't a big power back, he was elusive. He could make the best tacklers look like chumps, picked up a lot of yards single handidly past the line of scrimmage, and made a lot of good moves before the LoS when the need required. This is no slight against other backs, watching Bush reminded me of Barry a bit, ran with a lot of determination.

So you're ignoring the OLine factor? Also, Beanie's injury was in his junior year. Why does it matter who he sat behind his freshman year? Beanie sat behind Pitt. Because Lawrence Phillips is better than Pitt, that makes Beanie not as good? Just askin'.

Also, to whomever put the tag down there...I have admitted as much in Beanie's thread.

 some people need help. I wish Beanie had the old nebraska line blocking gor him.

Like many threads it's strayed far from where it started.

Now why didn't I think of that? :so:

How old? Those 50's lines were pretty small.

Furthermore I don't really want to see anyone gor(e) Beanie although I'm sure he'd do very well in the Encierro.

Well i'm sorta young so I don't go back very far but the best IMO i've ever seen was MoC.

When he was injured and left the team the other backs could find ZERO room to run and was lucky if they found the endzone (sorta like beanie last year). However when 13 came in he would find holes and creases that no one else could. The game against Washington State still is ingrained in my head with his performance. Before halftime he wasn't doing much but then after the half he came out and was just unstoppable. Breaking tackles, ripping off 20+ yard runs, and even pointed at the scoreboard when the WSU players started talkin smack.

He didn't perform well in the NCG but who knows how good he would've been had he just shut his mouth and kept playing. He had a crowd of 105k plus chanting for him much like a senior led Eddie once had as a FRESHMAN. He was a threat also to catch the ball and he knew how to use any means necessary to get to the endzone (The leap into the endzone)

Steve Slaton also really impressed me with his type of speed and the way he could also recieve or run the ball. Beanie as well with his ability to be 240+ pounds and still show such speed and the most devistating stiff arm ever in college football

No,you are right, but I've seen OSU play some pretty poor teams and no running back ever put up 408 yards in one game.

314 vs. '95 Illinois > 408 vs. whoeverthefuck he played

Besides, tOSU is notorious for NOT having our backs go for yardage. I'd imagine LT was needed in the fourth quarter, whereas most of the time a tOSU back hits 200, the game is out of reach, and they are benched. You don't think Beanie could've rushed for 408 against the same team LT played?

Nope..There is a reason it's a division 1 record. There's been plenty of big time backs play against crappy schools..As a matter of fact for you buckyle, when beanie scores 28 touchdowns in one year during his pro career,i'll rewrite everything i've typed in this thread, and it will swing my vote.

LT didn't exactly have Orlando Pace blocking for him at TCU fwiw..

I've seen the 406 yard vs UTEP. TCU's line may not have been full of Pace's but it sure as heck destroyed UTEPs Dline.

There wasn't anybody near LT until he was 5-10 yards downfield on darn near every play.

BTW Marshall Faulk's 386 yard/7 TD game came in his second start...as a true freshman.
