I took the boys around tonight and they ended up with full size candy bars at one house because the two high school girls who answered the door thought they were so cute.

In my mind, there are different levels of quality to the candy in most trick-or-treat hauls.

Primo - Nestle's Crunch, 3 Musketeers, Snickers, Baby Ruth, Milky Way, Twix, Kit-Kat, $100,000 bar, M&M's, SweetTarts, Smarties

Good, not great - Twizzlers, Almond Joy, Mounds, Malted Milk Balls, Milk Duds, any kind of gum

Good trade-away material (personal taste) - Reese's cups, Reese's pieces, Butterfingers

Underrated, I traded for these - York Peppermint Patty, Heath Toffee Bars, Junior Mints

Get a clue people, it's Halloween, we want candy! - Apples, popcorn balls, coins, anything else not edible

My friends' neighborhood had a house that gave out silver dollars. Man oh man, that was the coolest!

There was a house on the street behind ours - really more like a shack, and people said that most of it was underground - that would feed cats in the neighborhood. Counted 24 black cats on the front porch once. Every now and then one would wander up and move in to a house on our block, which is why we always had black cats. Always wanted to use one as a prop on Halloween, but they were too ornery because we kept them indoors all week just in case anyone decided it was a good week to hurt black cats. But we did have people coming out of fake graves and a ghost that would swing out of the trees and hit people on the head.

There was another abandoned house on that street. I used to have recurring nightmares of Sesame Street characters living there. Evil Burt... I've seen farks since, but this was long before that. I think there is something to it. Shifty eyes.

If you were looking for a point to these stories, stop it and have a chip. But if you want a second helping, you'd better switch to a new costume.
