ESPN - Bengals cut Henry, say they'll no longer tolerate his conduct - NFL

The Cincinnati Bengals, deciding they have had enough of wide receiver Chris Henry's run-ins with the law, released him on Thursday, hours after he surrendered to police to face a possible assault charge.

Did this man have any issues in college? or was it well concealed by his coach because of his star status on the team?

The wikipedia page for Chris Henry states that Rodriguez kicked him off the team following his sophomore season, but I don't think that is true.

From a recent AP article:

Henry received relatively light discipline three times during his final season in 2004. He didn?t start one game for previous on-the-field antics, sat out the first half of another game for receiving two unsportsmanslike conduct penalties in an earlier contest, and was suspended for the regular-season finale against Pittsburgh for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

My recollection is that the 2004 game against Rutgers was the worst. I think Henry caught the game winning pass, threw the ball at the defensive back that he had beaten, and then flicked off the Rutgers crowd when he got sent to the lockerroom.

Court records suggest Jackson may have incited the incident when she allegedly told the victim: ?I?m going to get Chris Henry here to beat your a--.?

Jackson said she came out of the building after Henry struck Meyer and that Meyer didn?t even realize that his attacker was Henry until she told him. Jackson is due back in court on April 18

Jackson said she came out of the building after Henry struck Meyer and that Meyer didn?t even realize that his attacker was Henry until she told him. Jackson is due back in court on April 18

Well, at least he wasn't wearing his own jersey this time.

Bengals' Henry 'one man crime wave'?

After missing eight games last season while suspended by the league, Chris Henry came back to Cincinnati. For a time, his life seemed tame. That ended in one whirlwind week. First, he appeared in court to pay a $149 fine for driving with expired license tags. Then, an avalanche hit the wide receiver, leaving Henry in jail by Thursday and causing the Bengals finally to cut him loose. On Monday night, a University of Cincinnati student told police Henry punched him in the head and destroyed a window in his car by throwing a beer bottle at it. Days later, a warrant for Henry's arrest was sent out. Henry wore a navy blue-and-white workout suit when he stood before a judge in Hamilton County Municipal Court Thursday to face charges of assault and criminal damaging from the Monday night incident. Henry pleaded not guilty. Judge Bernie Bouchard ordered him jailed on $51,000 bond. "You've kind of become a one-man crime wave," Bouchard said.

What a crackhead. And if anyone ever said any Bengal was going to come beat my ass I would be so pumped because, firstly, you know it's true, (he's a Bengal), and secondly, you can probably get rich off it.

Ex-Bengals receiver Chris Henry out of jail after fitted with electronic-monitoring device

CINCINNATI (AP)?Former Bengal Chris Henry was released from jail Friday, spending an extra night there because no one was available to provide a court-ordered monitoring device.

He was released from the Hamilton County jail Friday, although his $51,000 bond was posted Thursday night.

Henry, 24, was cut by the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday, a few hours before he was arraigned on charges of assault and criminal damaging. A man accused Henry of punching him in the face and breaking his car window with a beer bottle on Monday night.

Henry has been arrested five times since December 2005. He is due back in court on the latest charge on April 15.

Henry surrendered Wednesday night. He could have been freed Thursday afternoon if he had been fitted with the electronic monitor while under house arrest, sheriff?s spokesman Steve Barnett said.

According to a complaint filed with authorities, Henry was identified by Gregory Meyer and a witness who claimed Henry punched Meyer in the face Monday night, causing ?visible injury.? Henry then threw a beer bottle at Meyer?s car, breaking the rear passenger window, according to an affidavit.
