Bengals(-5.5) at Browns

Rich Gannon doesn't know how NFL overtimes work either

Rich Gannon and Donovan McNabb(notes) have a lot in common. Both played quarterback in a Super Bowl loss, each has lived in Philadelphia at some point in their lives and neither have any idea how the nFL's overtime rules work.

One year after McNabb infamously expressed surprise that professional games could end deadlocked, Gannon, the former Raiders quarterback turned CBS analyst, made a similar slip-up at the end of the Cincinnati Bengals-Cleveland Browns game for which he was providing color commentary.

With seven seconds left in overtime, the Bengals called a timeout to prepare for the potential game-winning field goal to be kicked by Shayne Graham(notes). It was an easy decision for head coach Marvin Lewis: Since the clock was running, calling a timeout allowed Graham and the field goal team to take their time instead of having to rush the kick. Gannon, though, took exception.

Contd....

Here's a couple questions for people, especially any Browns fans....

Is this game even close with Quinn at QB?

Did Anderson do enough in this game to warrant another start?

At 14-0 Bungles, did you turn off the TV?

Zastudiil isn't anywhere NEAR the problem....not being able to cover the middle of the field IS....

oh, there are a million issues. But the punter can't continually boot the ball into the end-zone when he has an opportunity to pin them deep. I watched college punters have way more success this weekend than Dave. Just pissed me off.....

I guess we should cut him for being all of 3 yards too long (one ball hit at the 2 and another at the one inch line) because he sucks.

:slappy: but damn that was funny. thanks.

I don't think Quinn scores. I'd rather have Anderson throwing the ball down the field and have issues with the short passes/ints than Quinn checking down and dumping every pass off.
I think it took the receivers some time to get used to Anderson's ball, but I think the longer he is in there the better they will get at anticipating how he throws. I think they had at least a couple drops today where Anderson got them the ball before they were looking for it. I don't think Quinn or Anderson are winning QB's, but Anderson gives them the better chance to win for now. I just hope Anderson played well enough to get the fans off his back.
The biggest problem is that the Browns only have 3 players that would play for a good team. The overall talent is pathetic. I wish they could go back and trade Quinn and Edwards this past off season. Get rid of all the first round picks that I hated.

No. Mohammed Massoquoi would still be on the back of a milk carton if he had started. The quarterback wasn't the only difference though as it was nice to see a running game with Jerome Harrison.

I should think this question is answered with the first. I think we know what we're getting with DA. He's not mobile. He forces the ball. But gets the offense moving and has been known the get the ball in the endzone from time to time... which is kind of the point of the game.

No, but I was certainly debating which point I would be turning the tv off. I was set on a 20-point-plus lead in the second half.
