You see players as good as BEANIE , every year? You must be a recruiter ANALYST for PSU.bdaythug;1271116; said:ban? why would i getted banned for a response? I am a fan of football, not just the big ten or penn state. i see running backs every year that are as good as beanie, so what.
There's quite a bit of debate on osu boards whether MoC or Beanie was better, that makes the "once in a decade RB' claim iffy. And he certainly isn't a 'once in a decade player' with Troy Smith not only in his decade, but playing with him.OregonBuckeye;1270890; said:Do you seriously feel that way?
Ask Lloyd Carr what he thinks of Beanie. Ask Archie Griffin. Ask the hundreds of poor souls on the wrong side of his stiff arms.

Yeah, that didn't make any sense, but good try.You must be a recruiter ANALYST for PSU.
Another senseless "dig" with no relation to what he's talking about. Why can't PSU dominate Penn in recruiting the top kids in-state?Its been going on for years, Michigan use to be the king of stealing them but, now OSU and PITT took over.

BrutusBobcat;1271171; said:As far as Beanie goes, he's a solid All-American, All-Big Ten Heisman contender at tailback. Forgetting stats for a bit, Ohio State generally has a player in that skill category about every 5-7 years. Clarrett, George, Smith, Byars, Griffin, and arguably Pittman all have fit that bill within the last generation.
Wells comfortably belongs on that list, but I wouldn't put him first.
IMO, the greatest college back of the last 30 years or so overall would either be Earl Campbell or Herschel Walker.
Still, in terms of potential, it's hard to think of a college QB/TB combination that is quite as potent as Beanie/Pryor. Smith/Pittman is the closet thing we've had.
cincibuck;1271384; said:IMO Pryor w/wo Wells ain't going nowhere that special if the O-line doesn't get a cranial - rectumectomy; a point driven home when watching USC. The Trojan O-line gave Sanchez, a relatively immobile QB, all the time he needed, gave receivers time to get open, pushed the down linemen back into the Buckeye LBs, making the running game all the more effective.
I don't believe there was that much difference between the two teams at the skill positions, but there was a huge difference up front.
IMO we won't find out if the addition of Wells makes that much difference until October 4th and October 25th.
Finally, anyone who saw Byars before the foot injury saw the finest running back ever to wear scarlet and gray.

OregonBuckeye;1271423; said:Who is a "once in a decade" player then? Judging by your post, there aren't any because there are always "similar" players.

Also, how is Snow considered better than Emmit Smith, even before injuries? That seems far fetched.
Vince Young would be mine by far just after that title game against USC that HE WON which, was the best game that I've ever seen.bdaythug;1271427; said:imo, im not sure if there are any more these days, since there are so many great athletes out there, but if i had to say, it'd be Reggie Bush or Vince Young.
