Beanie, Baiting & Decades, oh my!

Better than Archie? Wow. I did see him then, but 2 Heismans and 31 straight 100 yard games is hard to top.

Archie didn't have the size and speed that Byars had. Archie's teams relied on the fullback in short yardage situations (and who wouldn't with Pete Johnson?). Before the broken foot Byars just didn't get caught from behind. Note that I put in the caveat that I made my call based on his performance before the injury.

Finally, Archie had an OK career in the NFL. Byars became an all pro, albeit at receiver, but nonetheless an all pro.

Who is a "once in a decade" player then? Judging by your post, there aren't any because there are always "similar" players.
Reggie or Vince. Beanie has not reached, let alone distanced himself from Peterson. I gave the breakdown to show there's quite a bit of merit, despite folks jumping on him about it. Is Beanie even on par with Troy yet? (no imo)

To be fair, we're comparing Beanie's soph season (and a very brief look at his junior season, thus far) with other players Sr., or pre-NFL Jr. seasons. Comparisons to VY, TS, RB, or AP (the most suitable, IMO), need to wait until the end of 2008. Beanie's performances after he hit his stride in 2007 were on par with said players, although his rebound from this year's injury may derail that.

but it was the posters premature analyzation that said wells was a "once-in-a-decade" player. not our fault he said that. he should have said he was a once-in-a-decade sophomore then.

right, right, right... but have YOU ever seen a team win by only scoring field goals when the other team scored touchdowns? Is that even possible?
