Ratings?
The Alabama-LSU regular season game in November drew a 11.9 rating and 18 million viewers.
Here are the last three BCS title game ratings:
2011 championship game between Auburn and Oregon on ESPN: 15.3 rating, 27.3 million viewers.
2010 championship game between Alabama and Texas on ABC: 17.2 rating, 30.2 million viewers.
2009 championship game between Florida and Oklahoma on FOX: 15.8 rating, 26.8 million viewers.

Ratings came out for last night's game. All-time low for the BCS Era.

The All-SEC affair, the first championship pairing teams from the same conference, drew a 13.8 overnight rating on ESPN. The previous record low was a 14.3 for Miami-Nebraska at the 2002 Rose Bowl.

Even a low scoring tight game will keep my attention, but it was clear that LSU had no hope of scoring on them by halftime. That had as much or more to do with the fact of the numbers. We need to look at the numbers first and second half to see how many people bailed - versus never watched in the first place.

I put this all on Malibu Ken. America is finally waking up.

Alabama-LSU produces lowest TV rating for national championship in BCS era

Interestingly, the three lowest overnight ratings for the BCS Championship Game occurred in a year when there was some controversy over the participating teams. The previous low (14.3), in 2002, featured Nebraska, which didn't win its conference. LSU's win over Oklahoma in 2004 featured a Sooners team that didn't win its conference.

Last night, Alabama became the first school since Minnesota in 1936 to win a national title without winning its conference. Alabama fans are understandably rejoicing.
I guess people know a total farce when they (don't) see one.

Alabama-LSU capped a disappointing ratings year for the BCS on ESPN. Even before Monday night, the BCS' 7.3
average rating was down 10 percent from the 2010 season and 21 percent from 2009, when the games aired on Fox.

The Rose, Orange, Sugar and BCS Championship all took ratings hits this season. West Virginia's 70-33 rout of
Clemson at the Orange Bowl drew just a 4.5 rating, making it the lowest-rated game in BCS history.
Interesting

Interesting

Perhaps this is an indication that people are simply fed up with the BCS farce. Playoffs. Now.

Maybe. But the matchups were horrible this year. Beyond horrible. I think if Okie State was in that game last night the ratings would have been much better.
