BCS predictions/discussion/Knock Em' Off

The only hope for a 1 loss kansas is that WVU goes down(as well as Mizzou) and the pollsters must choose from 1 loss Kansas and some 2 loss teams for the #2 spot.
And even that, I think, is a fairly slim hope.

Kansas was already behind an SEC team (LSU) with one less loss than they, due solely to Kansas' really awful schedule, Sagarin #101.

I would expect that if Kansas loses to Missouri, the only decent team they face this year (they haven't yet played a team in Sagarin's top 30), they'll fall down to Boise State or Hawaii levels -- behind two-loss SEC teams, behind the Big XII title game winner, etc.

Georgia could possibly get into the National Title Game without going to the SEC title game

If West Virginia Loses
OU Wins The Big 12

might depend on where LSU ranks this week though

I think a 1-loss Kansas would need to beat Mizzou and lose a close game to OK. That would at least give them a good win, as well as more wins that anyone else. It would probably help for LSU to lose the SECCG and for UCLA to knock off USC again. It would definately be interesting to see the votes in that case. I think voters tend to punish the second loss harder, the thinking being you can get upset on a bad day, but lose twice and you're not exactly champion material. Also, I'm not sure you can look to hard at where the teams are this week or even next week. If last year is any indication, voters will take the final ballot (at least the top 3-5) more seriously and there could be unexpected movement as voters that had just uses to conveyer belt method actually put some time into the ballot that actually matters. Or at least I hope they do (and that Delany is quietly calling all the Big 10 coaches with votes and 'encouraging' confrence unity :))

Since Hawaii is playing right now, could a 12-0 Hawaii with the only 1-loss teams being OSU and KU get any support in the human polls? They would have to finish out beating BSU and Washington, not great wins but much better than they've faced so far and would somewhat legitimize their undefeated record. With Boise's win over the Sooners last year, I think there would be some sentiment to "give the 'little guys' a shot."

I've got a feeling we'll be seeing Kansas and WVU in the championship game. I know we only need one of those teams to lose, but they hold their own destiny's in their hands. Kansas hasnt played many teams with quality but they have the best defense in the Big12. Missouri is one of the hottest teams in the country right now and they have an absurd amount of weapons on offense. The Big12 game tomorrow I feel is the championship game. The Texas Tech game showed me the Sooners have fallen hard from the beginning of the season. Will Bradford be able to go in the Championship game for OU? Thats the biggest question mark.

WVU is finally healthy I think, even though Pat White is fragile. They have Slaton and Devine who can rip it off fromt the backfield. The defense blows but the offense makes up for it.

Ohio State lost to Illinois in a bad game. Our own fault and I think we will end up just short of the NC game because of it.

Arkansas winning today was fantastic. I actually respect LSU's program but Les Miles is a jackass and they won this season despite him. Arkansas owed us from 1998, read Clint Stoerners fumble against Tenn., and more people will try to say Arkansas is a great team that played great and LSU is great and blah blah blah blah........

Playing LSU in a bowl game would be more exciting to me than Oregon, but maybe they'll lose and we'll get USC. That would be an excellent game.

Oklahoma and UCONN, getting the Buckeye Nation behind them this week. Will it be enough?

you sir, are a complete buzz kill. everybody on this board is on could 9 and you go and break the positive mental attitude, thanks.

Well, could 9 is a decent place to be considering we could play for the national championship.

Cloud 9 would be tomorrow if WVU stumbles.

I have been here too many times to start getting too excited and counting on another team to lose for the Bucks to make it into the championship game. The 90's taught me that. Its a different scenario I do recognize but I'm trying to remain realistic and hopeful at the same time. Its too close to a reality right now for me to go ballistic with hope and something bad happen. Remain ecstatic if you want to and carry other folks with you but I prefer to wait and see this time around.

With that said Boomer Sooner!!!!!!

The problem with this is that almost every team that has had their destiny in their own hands quickly loses (Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma, and soon either Missouri or Kansas). Having you destiny in your own hands seems to be a bad thing this year.

As for Oklahoma falling badly this year, show me the team that can lose their starting QB, and still be the same team. If we had lost Boeckman a couple of games again, I don't think this thread would even exist.

And Ohio State certainly has the least worst loss of all the teams left, with the possible exception of Missouri. We ran into a good team, with a QB that played the best game he has ever had, and then rebounded at The Game away. Sorry, but if WVU loses, or Oklahoma wins, not only will we be in the NC, but we deserve to be there.

GO BUCKS!!!

If you assume Oklahoma beats either Kansas or Missouri, then assume we're in the NC game. The system would never let a team that didn't win their own conference be national champion.

I assume it. IT AIN'T OVER!!!

in 2001, Nebraska didn't even make the big 12 title game, and went to the national title game. 2003, Oklahoma gets schooled by K State in the Big 12 title game, and still went to the national title game even though USC was ranked #1 in both the coaches and ap poll.

After the Illinois loss, they threw us down as far as they could and yet we have a great shot at getting back. There's no way in hell that we should be looking up at West Virginia right now. We spent many weeks at #1, this is the closest they've gotten. But forget all that.

I'm not one who is up for Drama. LETS GO UCONN!!, kick the shit out of West Virgina (remember the b'ball T-Shirts last year) tomorrow and we're in.

GO HUSKIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
