I was going to post that it was over, because it is such a long shot, but ...

I think Cincy beats WVU this week.

If Okie drops one and wins the Big XII Champ game that takes out Missouri, Kansas and Ok.

LSU still has the SEC champ game.

The hardest part will be Oklahoma losing one of the next two weeks. But it can happen.

Surprisingly enough... I was wrong. (Not surprised I was wrong, but that we are within striking distance.) The old, it's not who you lose to, but when you lose strikes the Buckeyes again. At the very least, it will make watching other games interesting. There is an outside chance OSU still makes it to New Orleans, but as many have posted, I will still be very happy with a win at scUM and a Rose Bowl win. After that, the way these classes are lining up we could still have some very nice seasons for the next 4 or 5 years.

Here's our best "chance" and no I don't think it can happen. Most likely to least but its all a longshot.

1) LSU loses to Arkansas or UT in the SEC CG
2) WVU loses to Cincy, uconn or Pitt. Cincy obviously the best bet.
3) Oklahoma loses to OK State then beats the Mizzou/Kansas winner in the B12 CG
4) Oregon spits the bit vs one of their last 3 opponents(UCLA is jekyl and Hyde enough perhaps)



Bottom line is 3 of the 4 have to happen(assuming we win The Game of course).

I'd say 10% chance at best.

I would also be happy with Michigan and Rose Bowl wins - elated as a matter of fact. I just got sick of all these sports people saying Ohio State is out of the national championship picture when it's not true. The NC isn't being played next week and every one loss team in the top 8 is within striking distance.

actually, if 5 ahead of us lose we would be #2. I thought we would drop to #8. I still think 5 ahead of us will lose before the bowl season starts- but even if only 4 lose, as long as Kansas is one of them, I think we have a real shot at playing in New Orleans.

Keep in mind we are still looking at the human polls - not the one that counts.

Looking again I am a bit more pessimistic. If Georgia wins out they could very well jump us.

If Kansas loses it will throw the computers into a tailspin, who knows what happens then. It could end up being a late season win by Washington or Akron putting us over the hump.

i don't think Georgia will jump us. tellshow has us at 8. but we're nearly as close to 6 as UGA is to us. #6 Mizzou's ranking is .7931, Ohio State's is .7320, UGA's is .6790

I also will be very pleased with a one-loss season, a win at scUM, and a trip to the Rose Bowl. I thought we'd lose two this year, so, while the NC dreams were nice (and getting VERY realistic), I'm content with one more regular season win, and a big BCS Bowl game.

I think there is still and outside shot for us to see New Orleans this season, but I think there's one BIG thing that will be playing against us. After the scUM game, we'll be off the radar. Out of sight, out of mind. It's a lot easier to get jumped when people don't see you playing on Saturdays.

There's only 1 one-loss team behind us (Arizona St.) and I don't see any two loss teams jumping us, even Georgia if they win the SEC championship.
