I made mention of the likelihood in one of the Miles threads. Wasn't aware Osbourne had given his blessing to the same. Good man.

He assures a no excuses contest.

Well, barring any interference from TSUN / ESPN / Herbstreit's contacts.

I haven't seen it posted yet, but Miles asked Pelini to stick around and coach in the NC game. Osbourne gave Bo his full blessings.

I'm sure you already knew this...

Pelini was raised in Youngstown, Ohio, a former center of steel production with a strong athletic tradition. He played free safety for the Ohio State University Buckeyes under Earle Bruce and later John Cooper from 1987 to 1990, and as a starter in his last two years. Pelini served as a team co-captain in his senior year, along with Vinnie Clark, Jeff Graham and Greg Frey. He earned his bachelor?s degree in business marketing from the Ohio State University in 1990 while playing for the Buckeyes...AGAIN GOD PLANTS BUCKEYES EVERYWHERE!

I've always thought of Osbourne as a classy guy. He ain't no dummy either. Any time there is a big defensive play by one of our guys, Pelini is going to be on TV. And the announcers are surely going to mention he's the new Coach of Nebraska. That's like free recruiting.

I knew Bo played there, and had heard before that he was a captain, but not much else about his playing career.

Worth mentioning:

Since the 2005 season began, Ohio State is 33-4. In essence, the Miles era (33-6?). Nevermind that 27 of 33 wins are against MAC and D1-AA teams (6 are vs. scUM), we are proud of them nonetheless (73-15 in the Petey era...)

The 4 losses:

9/10/05 vs. Eventual National Champion Texas 25-22.

10/8/05 at BCS #3 Penn State 17-10.

1/8/07 vs. National Champion Florida 41-14.

11/10/07 vs. Rose Bowl Bound Illinois 28-21.

Notice there isn't a loss in there to a 40 point underdog at home (Spoiled Children), or a 21 point loss vs. a team we declare supremacy against (UGA-Tenn).

We don't have to justify to anyone why we are in the game again this year, and I can't wait to see the Buckeyes line up and prove their worthiness. This should be a great game.

Also, welcome again to all LSU fans. You will enjoy yourselves around here. I have seen nothing but class to this point, and that is just awesome. Good luck come game time.
