Game Thread BCS National Championship Game: tOSU 24, LSU 38 (final)

Please forgive my above message. It's late and i reread sandgk's message about all the colors, and monochromatic imaging and it got my head spinning. In all seriousness, LSU fans, these teams SEEM fairly even on paper (good WR's, Good D's, Good RB's, GREAT FANS!!) but what do you think about the coaching matchup. Some say miles, is too emotional, and takes too many chances. I'll be interested in what Tiger fans have to say.

If any LSU fans know of a good source for large LSU photos, please drop me a line or post a link in the following thread. Otherwise, if you'd like some wallpaper sized images from the SEC title game, you can also follow this link. I'm collecting these images for our next wallpaper contest, which will feature both teams.

Alright, well I was told this could make for some good discussion in here. All numbers via NFLDraftScout.com.

I've read several times on the forum that they're sick-n-tired of seeing references to team speed. Anyone who is slightly more than a casual observer knows that 40 times are adjusted/inflated all the time, most of those comparisons are within .1-.2 of each other, 40 times are just about worthless until they're measured at the combine.

Hey Buckeyes!

LSU fan here, I just wanted to say hello since I might be posting on your boards for a while. Nice site, by the way. I'm looking forward to a great game, and I have a sneaking suspicion this one is going to be a nail biter.
One reason I think that is because I believe our teams match up well, and another is that LSU seems to always get their opponents' very best effort. I hope none of our guys get injured and the refs call a good game. (God, I hope the refs call a good game!) I also bet the Quarter is going to look a little different teeming with purple, gold, scarlet and grey!

Geaux Tigers!

BCS title game coaches enjoy a few laughs during call

Tressel, Miles keep things light in Sunday conference call, joke with, compliment each other.

By Kyle Nagel
Staff Writer

Tuesday, December 04, 2007
During his opening statement on a Sunday night conference call for college football's national championship game, it didn't take Louisiana State University football coach Les Miles long to praise his opponent, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel.
"Jim, your team is well coached, very talented and just a very, very strong football team," Miles said. "We look forward to competing with you."

That thought started what became a love fest between the two coaches less than an hour after they learned they will face each other on Jan. 7 in New Orleans for the national title. Before beginning their preparation, the coaches took turns talking with, joking with and complimenting each other.

BCS-BOUND OSU THANKS . . .

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

As Bowl Championship Series coordinator Mike Slive said Sunday night, a lot of teams had a chance to grab "the brass ring" this year and wound up falling off the merry-go-round.
So Ohio State and LSU are in. But let's be clear. If there were any other realistic one-loss options (put your hand down, Kansas), the Buckeyes would not be going to New Orleans.
With that in mind, here is the odd collection of folks Ohio State needs to thank for this national title chance:

Buckeyes face team from dreaded SEC

By MATT MARKEY
BLADE SPORTS WRITER

COLUMBUS - This short collection of letters is supposed to make the tattooed biceps of Big Ten linebackers quiver. SEC. Those three symbols are believed to force highly-decorated quarterbacks to throw wounded-duck passes, and give offensive linemen a case of the yips that is so severe they can't remember the snap count, or their blocking assignment. SEC - the Southeastern Conference. (Anyone who automatically thought Securities and Exchange Commission, please turn to the business section).

I'VE tried defending the BCS, even through its odd quirks and silly matchups. But I'm done. That's it. I can't do it anymore.

Like that crazy uncle who drinks too much eggnog and falls into the Christmas tree, I'm tired of defending the indefensible. The BCS is broke. It needs fixed.

For the record, I don't believe, not even for a second, that Ohio State is the best team in the country this year. Not at all. But I also believe the Buckeyes are certainly the most deserving to play for the title.

Makes no sense, I know. But neither does the BCS.

Ohio State players are already preparing themselves for a month-long thrashing in the national spotlight over the next month. A one-loss OSU team has not impressed the rest of the country, in part because the Buckeyes have defeated exactly ONE team ranked in the final polls -- No. 18 Wisconsin. In their only other chance, they were dominated in the fourth quarter by Illinois and lost to a team now ranked 13th in every major poll.

brent schaeffer is better than any QB in the Big 10. We will be lucky to lose by anything less than 50. The Big 10 has not prepared us to face the awesomeness of LSU. Glenn Dorsey will have 10 sacks in the game and Ali Highsmith will keep our offense from gaining positive yardage. I pray the mighty Les Miles shows us mercy. Jacob Hester will vault past Dmac as the top RB in the 08 draft after this game. Colt David will return a kick for a TD. Matt Flynn will be the number one pick in next years draft after this game. LSU will be healthy and we will be destroyed. Their DLine will push our OLine around the entire game. Flynn will pick apart our D like it was a Sun Belt team. I would consider forcing them to punt once a championship. We need to accept defeat graciously at the hands of our mighty SEC overlords.

BCS tickets won't be cheap
Buckeye fans might pay $1,500 each
Tuesday, December 4, 2007 3:12 AM
By Rob Oller

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH

Ohio State fans planning to follow the Buckeyes to the BCS bayou bash in New Orleans need prepare for a national championship game double whammy: spending pocketfuls of green to get in, only to be surrounded by giant pockets of purple and gold. The only thing more eye-opening than the BCS title-game ticket prices -- possibly as high as $1,500 just to enter the gates -- will be the number of Louisiana State University fans flocking to the Louisiana Superdome for the game on Jan. 7.
With LSU's campus in Baton Rouge just 70 miles from the Big Easy, fans of the Tigers consider Bourbon Street an extension of their driveways.
"I would imagine the majority there will be LSU fans," Ohio State ticket director Bill Jones said.
