I am not to worried about this either way. I do not think someone gets to Miles's job without knowing both sides of the ball. I do think Pelini is a good DC but not for LSU. If he wants to coach, then let him....

Let's see.

A number of problems with Pelini staying to coach in the game, IMO.

First, He's gonna be distracted, he's the head coach of another team, they are the ones that are gonna be paying the bills at his house, THEY deserve his allegiance, not LSU.

Second, He has no accountability. If he sucks, what are they gonna do? Fire him?

So... he now has no allegiance to LSU, no accountability for the result, and he's was former Captain at Ohio State?

I guess if you need some excuses saved up for later... keeping him is a good idea.

Personally, there's not a snowballs chance in hell I keep him around. But, that's just me.

Not that there could be more incentive to winning this game than beating the SEC and winning a national championship...but right now as far as winning % in in NCAA history goes, we are 5th, but only by thounsanths of a point:

3. Oklahoma .71536
4. Texas .71533
5. Ohio State .71484

On most lists they would all 3 probably look tied at .715. But if somehow ASU would beat Texas, WV would beat OU, and we would take care of business in the Big Easy...then we'd jump into third.

3. Ohio State .71509
4. Oklahoma .71473
5. Texas .71471

Does anybody know if we have ever been third in winning percentage before at any period of time?

Measured for several more recent eras (since 1950, for example), tOSU is #1 - this info is out here somewhere ... I'll see if I can dig it up - DBB, do you recall where this might be?

Win percentage computation form

The site only measures through the 2006 season (though we have a better record than any of our nearest competitors this year), but tOSU is #1 in overall winning percentage measuring from 1923 up to 1955 to the present. That gets skewed as you get older (to ND mostly) and as you get younger.

A question for LSU fans:

I've watched several LSU games this year, but have failed to take notice of at least one thing: Do the Tigers ever run a no-huddle offense, and if so, how efficient are they in that mode? That's one thing that really burned the Buckeyes in the Illinois game. It even worked for M*ch*g*n. They implemented it on their only scoring drive of the game in the first quarter - only to inexplicably abandon it.

Normally not as an offensive ploy but at the end of halves. The Tigers have been pretty good moving the ball with 2 minutes left. We missed some field goals and TD passes and got no points, but they can move the ball well.

This is a great point, and a strong tactic against teams that are used to running alot of players in alot of different looks. So many announcers commented that tOSU played "on their heels" in the Ill game... I believe this tactic has been tried at times against LSU. I've seen a bunch of games, but can't remember who had the most success with it.

I feel so bad for you guys. I would hate to have Michigan on my mind all the time whenever I think of my head coach.

Oh wait, the 1990s...
