That implies the colorant is a metameric pigment or dye. When viewed in daylight it looks purple. Viewed under the stadium lights, or possibly due to filtering and chromatic distortion by the camera lens, purple shifts blue.

I'll have to take your word for that one.

Quick question. What shade of red is "officially" OSU's color.

Bama fans get pissed if you call them red instead of Crimson.

It's easy to hate a dirty team, too.

What the Carolina fan who made that video conveniently left out, is that we were penalized HEAVILY for our play in that game. The yardage led to most of their points scored.

For the most part, we don't play "dirty". Yeah, there was some stuff goig on in the Bama game, nut personally, I think they deserved the extra-curricular we gave them. We do commit our share of penalties (and usually the other team's share as well) though. It has been our achilles heel, and kept us from running away with some games this year.

I know LSU wears white at home... is there any superstition about it, or is it just because it's hot as hell down there..

We started it in the late 50's, and won a National Title with them. In the early 80's, the NCAA changed the rules, and forced the home team to always wear dark. So from early 80's until mid 90's (when DiNardo got them to change it back) we wore purple at home. The late 80's early 90's are known as the Dark ages for LSU football. A school record 6 straight losing seasons. So yeah, we really don't like the purple ones.

Now, the home team can wear white IF the opponent OK's it. All of the SEC AD's voted, and agreed that they would all grant permission to any home SEC team requesting to wear white. Which is why we wore purple at Miss. St. They tried to get a mental edge, but it didn't work.

I have no clue why we wore those horible concoctions Nike came up with for our game against Tulane. I'm glad they were all auctioned off and the money went to the Katrina fund, but that was UGLY!

not that it has any relevance

but what about the last time Tressel coached vs Miles, in the 2004 alamo bowl

33-7 buckeyes (behind justin zwick)

Unless Miles lets that get into his head I don't see that being at all relevant. The talent on this team is far superior to Oklahoma State.

That was interesting. First off, there was some fairly dirty stuff going on in that video, both by the Tigers and by the refs. I don't know that I would go so far as to call LSU dirty, I've seen some of their games and that would be a stretch, IMO, and in fact I've seen just as many dirty plays against them as I saw by them in that video. The more interesting thing was the referees. They should have been fired after that game...but I think they may have worked the WVU-Pitt game. It really looked like they were making some plays for LSU, especially the spot (which was bad before they moved the ball) and the "false start".

That actually has less relevance than the 2006 title game against Florida.

But hey, while we're doing this: What about pineapples?

Those were one time New Orleans rising from the ashes uniforms. That is the only time they will ever be worn.

For those going to New Orleans, this video shows the inside of the superdome at the end of the video. OKlahoma was well traveled and it was a sea of purple and gold.

I know very little of that game. Considering that y'all were only a few years removed from a National Championship team (and gave a pretty good run in '03 as well), I would think OSU vs Okie St. was probably a mismatch.

Oklahoma St. fans like to blame Miles, saying that he was too busy interviewing for our coaching position. I don't know how early we started interviewing him, but we were only coachless for 3 days before that game, so I don't think that was a reason.

The most dirty play I saw that involved a LSU Tiger all year was the chop block on Glenn Dorsey. End of story. That was intentionally going out and attempting to injure a player. A star player, at that. Could have cost Dorsey millions.

Love the discussion going on.
