This isn't aimed at any one person...

I think Tressel's quote after the game sums it up best. It went something like, "If you can't take criticism, you probably aren't tough enough to play this game. There are a lot of people who think they know this game, and what it takes to be successful at this level, and of course they all have opinions."

I'm a tremendous Tressel fan, and many laymen think they understand what goes into game planning, endlessly and ignorantly questioning calls without merit. Unfortunately, we don't know what feedback players are giving coaches in reference to opportunities on the field during a game, we don't see what they see up in the booth, and we don't know what the staff is trying to set up for the next play. We made it to TWO National Championships in two seasons, THREE in six years. These coaches know what they're doing, and unfortunately most of the naysayers don't know their ass from a hole in the ground.

The Chicken Little shit kills me. Celebrate the season, celebrate each member of this team, and celebrate the fact that we have a realistic shot to win a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP each and every year.

I love being a Buckeye. I wouldn't trade my colors in to be a Tiger today, nor would I ever wish to be anything but a proud member of the Scarlet and Grey.

To 2008- :drunks:Salut...

Dude, I'm with you to a point, it's been a fabulous run, and we've had a great season. But questioning some of the decision-making or some of the personnel calls or some of the other issues involved in a game doesn't constitute lack of respect for coaches or the team. And there are a lot of people on this board that know an awful lot about football, some of whom are coaches themselves. So I'm all for staying positive, but don't paint the "chicken little shit" brush too broadly. We are very careful to maintain a positive and constructive environment here, which can include some less-than-celebratory analysis of a loss.

Like I said earlier, wonderful season, beyond pretty much anybody's expectations. A NC would have been gravy, but I guess our mashed potatoes will have to do with butter. Great season young Bucks and thanks for gutting it out when it appeared to be getting out of hand. To the seniors and any juniors thinking of leaving, thanks for some tremendous memories. 4-0 vs. scUM, 3 BCS bowls and a bunch of other wins. Keep your heads up young men, you have a lot to be proud of. To the young men staying and coming in, concentrate on your studies and buckle up for what should be another great year in 2008.

I thought the refs called a pretty even game, there were a couple of times I thought a flag was coming on our OL for holding but they let it go for both teams tonight. Frankly it was a breath of fresh air compared to Big 10 refs, but that's a whole other thread. The refs did not decide the game tonight, the guys on the field did. That is the way it is supposed to be.

I don't want to come off as sour grapes, I really don't. That being said, how was the game called evenly?

We got hit with 2 huge "phantom" personal foul penalties. Those were probably the biggest calls of the game, as very few penalties were called.

Again, congrats to LSU, as they deserve it, and won the game fair and square.

But please don't say the game was called completely fairly and they didn't lean one way or the other, because they did.

LSU deserved to win, and I'll never point to the officials as a reason we lost. But you should be careful, b/c two of those 15 yard personal fouls were BS and they had a significant impact on the game.

The personal foul on the sideline was brutal. They called it on a DT that was nowhere near the play, and there was no late hit period on the play to boot. That was awful and it gave LSU GREAT field position.

The personal foul on Rerhring was also puzzling. DVR'ing the game didn't show anything ridiculous. He talked a little bit and finished his block aggressively, but other than that I'm pretty puzzled.

Even Cam Heyward's 15 yarder gets let go a majority of the time. Needless to say we got called on all of it and have to accept it.

Hopefully this talented group makes a solid run at USC and re-establishes respect in the Big 10 b/c it has most definately been lost.

Rehring deserved that penalty from what I saw, and on the sidelines they had the wrong # but he still got hit. Questionable? Yes, but not unrealistic. They were trying to keep the game from getting dirty, and they called more 15-yarders than many crews do. That's their business. The players must adjust accordingly, wrong or not.

There's no way in hell this was a blow out. Take away a few penalties its a CLOSE game. Think about this...if we don't get that roughing the kicker penalty, and after we score that TD in the beginning of the fourth quarter, we are down 7. I personally think the game would have been completely different.

Take away a couple of TDs and we'd be in OT too  Sorry, just trying to lighten the mood. I talked about the RTP penalty myself earlier, I do think that was the dagger, but we lost the momentum in the 1st quarter and never really got it back. It certainly wasn't a blowout, but it wasn't an either-way game either, per se.

I am so disappointed and pissed off right now. We could've won this game. What was with the deep routes on third downs? What was with the lack of running game in the first half (actually, we had a running game, we just didn't use it enough)? There are so many questions I want to ask. The penalties were unbelievable. Officials did call a bad game, but they didn't change the outcome. LSU won. Congrats on that. Enjoy it. The better team on this night won, although I can say for sure that our team is better than this. Last year, Florida was going to beat us that night even if we played our best. This year would've been different.

LSU fans, I have a ton of respect for you. Please teach your fellow SEC fans what the word humble means, and teach them your respect. You guys are great, and I couldn't ask for a better group of fans to have beaten us tonight.

I don't mean to throw any of our guys under the bus, apologies if it sounds this way. I am crushed.

EDIT: To verify my comment about teaching other SEC fans character, I am active on multiple forums. Pretty much all LSU fans were great, and the rest of the SEC teams were more opinionated and biased than any ESPN character. I hate when people judge OSU fans, so I do realize the hypocrisy in this post. I've just heard so much shit in three hours, I can tell that I'm going to want to kill everyone tomorrow.
If you weren't crushed I would be seriously wooried about you. To come so close and not win, for a true fan is about as bad as it gets. Keep in mind though, we were kind of expecting to be in the NC game at the beginning of the year (Of course we tried to screw it up a couple of times :_) ) You guys were supposed to be in a rebuilding year and still made it. Even though it looked like we were jittery in the beginning, I really think that the OSU team and coaching staff put too much pressure on themselves with the lack of respect, Florida game, Lack of speed, business. LSU certainly respected them, I didn't see any case where speed played any significant difference, and the Florida game is history. I would love to play you guys again next year for the NC. Win or lose I will be happy.

Quick synopsis of what I saw and feel.

We played much more aggressive tonight, but got out-coached. Not in a sense that Heacock deserves ridicule, but in a sense that LSU deserves a ton of credit.

Our coaching staff should have recognized that Florida WOULD play dirty last year. Urban Meyer rarely lines up straight. His philosophy of utilizing "outside" athletes completely kept us off balance with weird formations and a game plan that treated every 5-6 yard gain as if it were a very significant win. Those 5-6 yard wins ended up in domination of our big play defense.

This year we were again fought DIRTY. We decided to be more agressive after the embarrassment we endured last year. Only problem is, the LSU coaching staff recognized where we lacked in aggressiveness last year, and recognized we would try to NOT repeat the same mistakes twice, AND THEY DOMINATED US.

LSU KILLED US WITH MISDIRECTION!!!! Plain and simple. We did not lose because we lack the athletes. We certainly do not, and will own the most NFL players single handedly after the draft this April. We got beat by a great gameplan that took advantage of our aggressiveness. LSU's coaching staff utilized our strenghths against us.

I could say a lot more, and break the game down a ton more but I doubt it makes any difference.

This loss hurts, and I won't want to hear any type of media outlet until the USC game next year.

Congrats to LSU for an excellent gameplan, and the execution of that gameplan.

Good luck to James, Malcolm, and Vernon as they proceed to the next phase of their lives. I'm sure they wish they left with a "Win" instead of a Bowl Championship Series "Loss".

OK, what's the deal?

Four times... why?

My two cents:

1. The lack of respect angle that the coaches drove into the players heads may have backfired. There is a difference between rage and controlled anger. The lack of discipline may have come from this. Rehring getting in guys faces, Heywards late hit. The uncharacteristic penalties. It just seemed that there was a lack of focus. Maybe a zen master would have been nice with that DVD to control the anger into on field production. Being a college football player I know how it can be when you play with uncontrolled anger, the undisciplined play showed it.

2. Todd....:shake:needs to work on pocket awareness. The problem started to come half way through the season, and really showed up versus Illinois and today. He gets happy feet even when no one is around at times. His INT vs illinois in the endzone was because of this, and there where many plays today(fumble and last int) where this happened leading to bad mechanics. Bad mechanics = bad throws. It should be a open position next year, competition leads to growth from all players. Hopefully this brings better QB play next season. His arm strength is just average. Mechanics will help but he should work on his core strength like a mad man this offseason.

3. Chris Wells was a man possessed today. Did you see his eyes after the first TD! Give him the ball all day. 3nd and 4 give in the 4th quarter...give him the rock. You know you were going to going to go for it on 4th down why not give it to him twice. He will be a joy to watch next season. Most talented back we have ever had in my opinion.

4. Tressel got away from what he is known for. Special teams went down hill this year. 4 blocked kicks this year! Return teams need more work this off season.

5. Thank you seniors. Larry Grant had a amazing game and will be missed. He will be playing on Sundays no doubt. Juniors that leave thank you also. 3-0 versus michigan, 2 national championship appearances, great leaders and rolemodels off the field. As a buckeye fan I can not wish for more it was a great ride. If they come back next year...USC better watch out. If not....USC better watch out.

6. We lost to a better team. LSU was better in every aspect today. There is no speed difference. The team that wins the turnover battle and executes will win. LSU's coaches had a impressive game plan.

7. The game changing plays were the false start on the second drive, Robiskie's TD drop and roughing the punter. Execute! The game would have gone down to the last seconds if we executed these plays.

8. Posey will bring some needed help. As will the brew crew, I do not expect many red shirts next year.

9. Overall I am proud of this team. They were picked 3rd in the big10 and were not even in the top 10. This was a overachieving team not under. The people on other boards calling for Jim T's head are nuts.
