Could someone start a new thread re: the success of agressive offensive and defensive playcalling by SCUM against FLA, and whether Tress will employ a similar approach to monday's game? For whatever reason, I can't seem to figure out how to start a new thread, is it a contributor only function?

You should be able to start a thread......

As for the aggressiveness, I think that you'll see a lot of it from OSU. Michigan was able to counter Florida's aggression with screens and draws. The Buckeyes will employ the same approach.

I give props to everyone who makes this site go. Lost in Texas so the Bucks news is scarce. Here's the thing, I did search. Blind in one eye, can't see out of the other-as the saying goes . Guess I was blind from just finishing the semester's grading and such. I assure you that I did not wait to ask the teacher before trying to find out the answer to a question. What sort of hypocrite would that make me?

Gatorubet, something like that...

All I can say is, "The commercials drive me nuts!" If you see one twice, ten thousand is too many. The funny thing is that the only thing we all have in common today is advertising jingles and their songs.

On offense... I agree.

I don't envision us playing man and blitzing out of that any more than we usually would unless LSU changes an awful lot of things about their offense... they're gonna look to do the same as far as keeping our D-line from pinning their ears back and coming all out.

As I mentioned on an Earlier post, don't be terribly surprised to see;
1) Boeckman running.
2) Henton throwing.

If you recall the Miami game, WHO was the leading rusher in that game?!?!?!

Agreed, IF and it's a big IF in my eyes we do see him it might be in situation like USC used yesterday on the double pass play that went for a TD in the first half. I don't put anything past Tress in big games, we just never got to see the tricks up his sleeve last year because TGJr got hurt. I guess thats what makes him so good, even those of us that obsess about the Buckeyes don't truly know.

I believe you when you say you searched and found nothing. The thread you were pointed to was dated 5 days after your original post.

I really didn't mention how much I thought he'd play, just that its awfully suspicious how the depth chart has been re-organized.

On the topic of the whole double-pass theory, what about a double-pass with a newly found tight end? I couldn't imagine seeing a tight-end throwing a pass, but our 2nd string QB is now listed as one. Imagine what LSU would do if we had Boeckman lined up at QB, Rob at TE, and Henton in the backfield and/or slot?

Now there's three men on the field that can all throw the deep ball with Ray Small burning the SEC's best safety, Mr. Steltz.

Wasn't slamming you. Just stating my opinion.

Personally, the way I feel about this game is as follows: I don't want any trickery or "splash"-type plays. I want tOSU Buckeyes to demoralize the LSU Tigers by straight up whooping their asses. Do what we do best, and I think it will end up positively.

I realize that you said this is what you want, but do you truly believe that OSU will line up, put a helmet on a helmet, and "whoop their ass"??

Not to bring up the ridiculous "undefeated in regulation" quote, but it bears a little relevance in that no team this season has "whooped LSU's ass". Sure, the Tigers have lost 2 games, but by no means have they had their asses handed to them. Personally, I just don't see that happening in the title game.

Yep. There is a reason trick plays don't get run that often. They usually don't work! Throwing one in here and there when the risks aren't as high (in your opponent's territory) can be good to keep your opponent off-balance. But a little trickery goes a very long way. Given JT's reputation, I seriously doubt he has anything too drastic up his sleeve.

It happened as recently as 1/8/07

The Buckeyes were undefeated in regulation and then got their asses handed to them in the Title Game.

Well..........I wasn't going to bring that up.

But since you mention it, I do realize that anything can happen. My point is that I really don't expect it in this game. Not w/ the styles both teams bring to the table.

I fully expect this to be a competitive game that will come down to who plays best in the 4th. Given the strengths of the two defenses, I don't see either team putting a ton of separation on the other.

I am predicting the Buckeyes will win. I think JT as a coach gives us the edge. But I would be surprised if the margin in more than a TD.

If our guys are wearing 2 helmets each the Tigers are in trouble. :p
