Game Thread BCS National Championship Game: tOSU 24, LSU 38 (final)

If we were a 3 TD favorite it may have an effect, but I don't believe a 4 or 5 point spread means anything to the players. I would have put the game at about 7 - 8 points
Somehow Urban managed to turn a 7 pt edge into a 3-4 TD "sleight" in their minds. Truly remarkable spinning, but it paid off.
I don't believe that anyone is telling the players they are going to blow out anyone
The media called... they want you to turn your ears on  Of course no one in your program is telling them they'll blow OSU out. The bulk of the sunshine blown comes from outside, typically.

Yea that about sums up the sentiment on LSU's boards. I had to get off thier message boards because I don't want to hate all of them before I go down there.

Actually, I have seen mixed messages and I am an LSU fan. For every OSU does not belong there is a serious football fan that post the opposite. I am pretty sure you could cherry pick buckeyeplanet.com and find similar statements...

I've been looking around, and aside from the usual ' I hate the SEC' for obvious reasons, everybody around here seems rather level-headed.

Reading that board though really makes you want to laugh, I see Jwins over there trying to bring in some reality, but alas... "all southern people can't read and suffer from the gum disease known as... gingivitis"

Thanks to big J for sticking up for tOSU - I myself wanted a close, well fought game with an :oh: victory; but after reading that board, I hope we hang at least 40 on them...... will
see you phuckers January 7th!

a 4-6 point spread in a NC game is actually a pretty big spread. As was stated we were 7 point favorites last year and look how Florida took that for motivation. You can tell by the way our players are interviewing that they are starting to get annoyed of the hype LSU is getting. The speed, the SEC thing, the home game for LSU, how we don't belong, last years NC game, and things like "what will it take to beat this LSU team" are becoming very annoying to our players. I'm sure both teams will be ready to play some football but mentally OSU should really be in good shape. Last year our coaches with Jim Tressel of all people was telling our players of the dangers of the Florida game, but it didn't matter our players heard from the Media how the other opponent didn't deserve to be on the field with them and the rest is history.

They lost both games, but as a fan why fear being considered the best team.

My reply wasn't aimed at any "fear of being considered the best team", but rather your comment, "This team knows how to deal with the A game of every team they have played." My point is that no team always knows how to deal with an opponent successfully...

If I had my choice I would trake being the underdog anyday. you would think that the chance to win a NC is enough motivation but clearly it is not from the numorous favorites that have lost.

I guess the whole disrespect thing is a great motivator. If that is what my teams needs to win then so be it. I just want to see them win I don't care what it takes to get in their heads to do it.

Can Jim Tressel win the NC without John Cooper's talent?

i think not. he won it all in just the 2nd year after cooper was fired.

His best recruit was the gun-toting, grey goosing, thug maurice clarett. Dude was outcoached by Larry Coker of all people and was only able to win due to a horrendous call in double overtime for all to see.

Of course he hasnt won one since.

clearly it was cooper's great recruiting/talent that tressel benefitted from, that brought home the crystal.

That conservative play calling with the 3 yards and a cloud of dust mentality was exposed by Florida last year. the same offense that looked like the new england patriots against an overrated Notre Dame team the year before.

Heisman winner troy smith went from looking like steve mcnair to david carr overnight.

maybe cooper recruited more s, oh no they are sensitive that s word. sp.. spee. no can't do it.

that same mentality is why OSU has never beaten an SEC school in a relevant game.

Certainly getting to the NC game is much easier when the rest of your conference is average and slow (at best).

it just means big 10 "championships" are pretty meaningless lately in the grand scheme of things.

if not for that horrendous call the great james mcsweater-vest tressel would would have, that's right, 0

Southern Stupidity................:oh:

You left out his last line from that post:

"I like to stir the pot"

He did that purely to get the OSU "lurkers' to join in the conversation. it worked.

With all due respect...

When someone practically opens with "Dude was outcoached by Larry Coker"... is there really any point in responding? Honestly, is there a being in the universe capable of abstract thought who believes that Tressel was out-coached in that game?

please

Yea, I mean how many players did Miami have that went to the NFL from that gm?? A shit load and actually Coker is a product of Butch, and btw if Cooper was better then Tressel explain their records against Michigan as Tressel already has a shit load more wins then Cooper did.
