Game Thread BCS Championship Game, tOSU vs. Florida - Jan 8th

Damn, we got our asses kicked. Oh well, it happens. I've calmed down quite a bit since the first quarter ended.

It was a hell of a year by the Buckeyes, and even though I wish our departing seniors could have gone out on top, they had a hell of a run. We lost to the better team tonight. Kudos to Florida. I hope we meet again in the future.

Florida outplayed us tonight: YES, Florida outexecuted us tonight: YES, The Big Ten needs to rethink its scheduling to prevent the 51 day layoff like the Buckeyes went through: RESOUNDING YES!!!! That is just too long a layoff for any team to go through, after spring practices it was a similar layoff, the difference being this opponent was Florida not Northern Illinois.

We went SO many years from 1968 to 2002 thinking we had the best team but never being able to play for that championship...now we've been able to play for 2 in 5 years, we've wiped out our rival, and we've still won 3 BCS games. Yes, tonight sucked balls, but how can we not be happy with where we are? Coach Tressel has given us opportunities it looked for a long time like we'd never have...this kind of thing happens. Time to regroup, reload, recharge, and restart.

Well, if we plan on making it back to the NC game next year, which is a decent possibility, there will be 51 days off again between The Game and the BCS NC. I'm sure it will be like this for at least the next few seasons. I'm also sure that Tressel will do better with the free time than whatever occurred this time. I have no factual evidence (it's probably out there) but I tend to believe that Tressel learns from his mistakes and will know how to handle this long layoff next time around.

Looks like it's back to the long off-season now. These football seasons come and go, there will be ups and downs, and we'll be back here same time next season discussing Buckeye Football.

All is not lost. Spring ball starts up in about 3 months. We'll dissect and rave over pictures of the players at Spring practice. Then we'll be all giddy over the Spring game and start to make predictions 5 months before the season even kicks off. Summer time comes and soon enough we will be watching our Buckeyes sprint onto the field to take on Youngstown St.

In the mean time the Basketball team should keep us Buckeye maniacs occupied. Go Bucks!

Now I know what it feels like to be kicked in the nuts by Chuck Norris. I think this hurts worse than the 1998 Michigan State loss. Good luck seniors, you gave us a hell of a ride.

On a side note, I hope we meet Florida in the Final Four. It may sound classes-less, but I want revenge somehow.

I think the NCAA needs to reconsider the bowl schedules, there was at least a month off regardless of what conference you were in. That's silly, I understand taking a week or two for everyone to get healthy but 30+ days is just too much.

As for what happened, I think the players fell into the idea that they should just show up and dominate this game. Something that happened to Miami when we came in in 2002. Remember, these are great athletes but they are also pretty young, so no matter how much the coach says something it's hard to avoid it when it's coming from everyone who isn't your coach.

Also, our play selection sucked, I don't know when we fell into the idea that if something works we should never use it again, but that seemed to be the way. What happened to the old Tressel-mentality of "we're going to continue hitting you with this play until you stop us, then we'll do it with another."

Either way, it's pretty awesome to be in the NC game, we got beat, a few years ago, we won, we've enjoyed a lot of bowl wins in January since Tress came, I am sure it's not long til we have enough crystal football on tOSU campus.

The sun will rise and my son will kiss me in the morning and tell me he loves me. I'm hurt, but I'm not half as hurt as Troy,Gonzo,Pitt,Doug,Animal, and the rest of the Buckeyes. It's easy to be a leader in victory...NOW is the time to be a true leader when your teeth have been kicked in and the world is against you.

Thanks Guys for a great season and for the returning Buckeyes embrace the pain and let it soak in so you remember.

I have not sweated at all on the pratice fields of Woody Hayes, so I can not hurt like you...BUT as a fan I'm with you tonight and proud of you all.

GO BUCKS....OH-IO

ouch..damn wow...i still can't believe what hit us. wow..

PS: did anyone see this post-game nugget from Jarvis Moss? "Honestly, we've played a lot better teams than them," Florida defensive end Jarvis Moss said. "I could name four or five teams in the SEC that could probably compete with them and play the same type of game we did against them."
