For my 5000th post, I'm picking a random thread to say...
M*ch*g*n Still Sucks.

Congrats on your 5 grand
I took a total ribbing this week at work and all I said we didn't show up & a good ole fashioned ass kicking .

But I came back with this 0-3 in bowl games and 1-5 against tosu

Michigan still sucks so alittle redemption

Not to mention the fact that we spend millions and millions every year on paraphernalia and athletic gear that supports tOSU athletic department and the university itself. I'm not delusional to think that if I were to have screamed a little louder we would win a particular game but I make my contributions to the university and Buckeye Nation just the same.

Please reread the Championship game dialogue prior to the game. OK, what did you see? OSU fans bashing the SEC, yes? Yes. Now, fast forward to the Rose Bowl, and see the #2 (by a hair) B10 rep (Meatchicken), get blown away by a USC team that lost to a mediocre UCLA. Now, fast forward to Jan 8 (now will live in infamy until we can blot it out with a NC), and OSU, the #1 in the planet gets torched by a team that had maybe 4 players that could have cracked our starting line-up (opinon of Cali-Buck only).

And the game itself........folks, we got outsped (a word?), out hustled, out hit, and out-coached, and flat out-played. Our band was better than theirs, though  .

Our band was better!?!? Why of course.........I always request the theme from "The Titanic" whenever I'm getting kicked in the balls...honest to Christ!!

LJB is correct. None of us (nor the Gator faithful) played one down, took one snap, or did anything than cheer on their respective teams. They deserve to crow. And between the 'Big Two', the B10 deserves every bit we got. Neither of OSU or UM carried the banner of the B10 very well.

So let them gloat, payback is a bitch, and definitely best served cold. Use it as bulletinboard material - Meyer did for his players for the game. We'll have our chance again. Hopefully we'll make the best of it. As it was said in "Platoon" - 'take the pain'.

:gobucks3: :gobucks4: :banger: I bleed scarlet & gray in victory AND defeat (more so in defeat, I'm afraid). So should y'all also........feel sorry for the seniors and the other players, as they lived the debacle. :oh:
:oh: :io:

Sean McClelland is, and always has been, a big fat bag of negativity, always looking for the worst in things, and on top of that, he doesn't understand football at all, other than probably how many beers you can drink while watching a game.
I hate his coverage of the Browns, and hope he is never allowed to utter a peep about the Buckeyes ever again.
Between this and what Marc Katz wrote yesterday, the DDN should be ashamed of themselves for hiring these two dumbasses.

Dayton Daily News sucks anyway....

Besides, he picked Lance McAllister as his favorite radio host and THAT guy sucks too.

The Implications of the championship Fiasco

We are all proud buckeyes. I don't see one of us making excuses or trying to take away from Florida's victory. Congratulations to the gators.

However as avid fans we are all aware that the embarrasment we witnessed on January 8th did not feature the 2006 buckeyes who rolled to 12-0. We don't have another game to prove that and so now we have to live with the implications. As far as the media is concerned Troy's heisman never happened.

In the span of two months touching articles entitled the Rise of Troy were corrected to read the Fall of Troy. Isn?t that cute. Well the truth of the matter is that our time in the limelight is going to cost us. The media jumped on the Ohio State bandwagon and we let them down.

The truth of the matter is that while we console ourselves with the accomplishments of this season outside of Ohio we are being turned into the lepers of college football. The fall from #1 to #2 may look small but remind yourselves that we were made to be more than simply #1. We were placed on a pedestal and we were embarrassed.

I can not shake the feeling that there are further consequences. We have already been written off for next season and while that may have no bearing on the talent of our team it may be pivotal to our prospective prospects. I know our methods of recruiting; that stars don?t mean anything to Tressel. But hypothetically let?s say we had not just fallen from grace. That we were a quarterback away from a repeat. Wouldn?t we have had our pick of the lot.

Hopefully we can feed off this scoring. If I had the opportunity to put on a buckeye jersey right now I know I would be motivated to prove myself. Give me some feedback if you can on how you think this loss will affect us in the coming years.

Maybe a tad melo-dramatic.

No one can deny that the game was embarrassing. No one. But what you have to realize is that we made it to the BCS National Championship Game. Two teams do that each year. Let me repeat...two teams. We've done that twice in the last five years. Pretty damn good if you ask me.

We are already stocked with athletes, and despite the recent disapointments, we have a pretty solid recruiting class coming in that is not yet complete. There is no reason to go all "chicken little" here. JT has a reputation as one of the best coaches in America, even after monday's debacle. Not just as a coach on the field, but as a developer of young men off the field. As for Troy's performance; yes Monday hurt, but his development off of the field is probably even more impressive than what he became on it.

We will be fine. The cupboard is hardly bare. Though next year may not be as magical as this season was, I can assure you it will be enjoyable just the same. I have no explanation for the egg that was layed monday; but the 65 games prior to that tell me we will be just fine. One word comes to mind...hiccup.

I agree entirely that we will be fine and that we can look forward to another exciting season. But prior to monday the expectations were certainly loftier.

I can only dream of what JT would produce were we to have pulled in the obscene amount of talent being offered to USC, Florida, or Notre Dame as of late.

Not sure I'd lump ND into the same zone as Florida and USC as far as available recruited talent. The reason Meyer took the Florida job instead of ND is because he knew he's have alot more players available that he could get into Florida that he could not get into ND. USC is just amazing with what they're getting. Until proven otherwise, I just have to assume all their great plyers are teken by the whole LA atmosphere and team tradition.

No matter how pissed you get from the Florida beatdown, it still takes some of the sting away knowing we beat the Carr's again.

I really hate to be negative, but at this point I think balance is required amidst all those who say that this game didn't matter much in the grand scheme of (football) things.

1. It cost us some good recruits, almost certainly. Not because we lost, I believe, but because of how we looked in so doing.

2. It probably cost us Anthony Gonzales.

For these reasons alone, it seems inappropriate to say that the effects of this atrocious loss were minimal. Will we be fine in the long run? Of course, but don't minimize the negative impact in the short term.

...or it could show some potential recruits that there is a chance for immediate playing time which helps recruiting.

Half empty or half full...all how you want to look at it.

The further away from the game, the better things are looking!

This recruiting class, short of a defensive and a offensive lineman, will be talented.

Next year, will be more important.
We must get the lineman to restock, next year!

Coaching is the bigger factor in college football, and all football.
