Battlestar Galactica- the TV show

This is from Battlestar Wiki:

It'll be a year between episodes, and I am ready to get this shit started again. I've been watching season 1 and getting caught up, while making My Girlfriend watch it for the first time. I have one more episode left in season 1, all of season 2, and season 3 DVD comes out on March 18.

Still 46 days from the season 4 premier and I am ready now.

Stupid writers striking and shit.

My guess is they will split the final season to get everything the way they want it.

I also heard some rumor that Caprica- the pre Battlestar Galactica series, may end up getting shot. My guess is probably not, but hey who knows.

Still April 4th. Luckily I am knee deep in tax land so I am not exactly able to watch a ton of TV.

I've heard that the split may happen as well. With the second part of season four being aired in fall 2008 or early 2009.

It looks like the writer's strike may have actually done some good though.
Caprica wiki
Ain't It Cool News reported on January 17th, 2008 that the new ?Sci-Fi Preview? edition of TV Guide reports (on page 28) that the desperately script-starved SciFi Channel may put into production the fully-scripted pilot for the ?Battlestar Galactica? prequel ?Caprica.? ?I just got a call from NBC-Universal,? SciFi VP Mark Stern tells the magazine. ?They want us to take another look at the project.? The prequel, set about half a century before the events of ?Galactica,? will deal with Bill Adama?s lawyer dad and his contemporary, the human ?inventor? of the Cylons.

Showing the final episode of season 3 now.

Season 4 starts in 15 minutes. :banger::banger::banger::banger:

Thoughts?
First 20 minutes were intense. (almost as good as '33' or the Exodus episode)

Didn't like all the wink wink moments like when Kara tells Anders if he is a cylon she'd but a bullet between his eyes.

Saw some spoilers and it's going to get darker and darker. Something good has to happen to these people eventually.

The opening fight was pretty sweet. The cylon raider scanning Anders and the Cylons immediately retreating was gave me goose bumps. Now the cylons know that the others have been activated.

Sometimes I really like the Starbuck character, and sometimes I just wish that she'd go away. I mostly want her to go away during the wink wink moments that Buckeye Buh Nim talked about.

The conflict between Kara and the President should be interesting. It'll be cool to see if Kara's vision is the right one and the hybrid from Razor was lying, or if Kara really is the harbinger of death.

I also have a (almost definitely incorrect) theory that Kendra Shaw from Razor may be the fifth cylon. After watching the end of season 3, when the four were revealed, and watching Razor shortly after. I realized that Shaw wasn't hearing the music the others were hearing, but every time she listened to the radio, which was too many times for it to be coincidence, she heard the same deep bass static that the other 4 were hearing just before they realized what they were.

Baltar get's more ass than anyone else in the fleet. It's going to be fun to see him continue to grow as a messianic figure.

Screw that. I want the Cylons to win and the remaining humans to bow to their robot overlords...:banger::biggrin:

That is apparently the story because apparently the final cylon, the cylon god is....

or at least thats what the writers said recently.

Well, that was interesting.
Yeah. Not returning until early 2009. The writer's strike really screwed things up. They are currently (as of last week) filming episode 18 of their 20 episode final season. From what I've read. Episode 11 (the next episode) could have served as a series finale if the writer's strike had gone on much longer...now their's an impending actor's strike, but I'm not sure if BSG will be affected.

So what are your thoughts?? I've read a few different ones, but don't really know what to think other than I need to rewatch my DVRed episodes 1-10 again.

Theories (not necessarily mine):

1) It's not Earth.
a) More like Alpha Centauri where the constellations would be similar and be able to fool us into believing it?s Earth.

b) This "Earth" might be a remnant of the "happened before...happen again" AND there might be a Galaxy filled with "Oops" remnants??? This theory is that it is not Earth, and the Earth facsimile is to learn from their mistakes. It seems that if indeed it is Earth it would ruin BSG entire franchise. Maybe ? 1. Go back in time and ?fix? things; 2. The nuked planet is a pointer to the ?real? Earth.

c) Kara Thrace is supposed to be the harbinger of death according to the hybrid in Razor and another hybrid in the actual series. This was said twice, and now she leads them to a planet that was completely destroyed? This could explain the seedings of an endless cycle of war between two universal principles; humanity and machine. This constant war could endlessly spawn remnant models (the f-i-n-a-l five) which are survivors of previous incarnations of this universal slugfest as are the cylo-human children serving as the progenitors of the next incarnations of "humanity" and cylon.

2) It is Earth.
a) ?but not the 13th colony
i) Earth destroyed itself thousands of years ago. Survivors or so called GODS seeded KOBOL until a viable number could be reached....they were there for two thousand years, and then they seeded the colonies. The colony from KOBOL that went back to Earth found the destruction and went elsewhere instead of returning to KOBOL or the colonies. They left a beacon and now the Galactica Fleet will follow the clues and find the 13TH Colony
b) It is earth, that's why they went out of their way to have Adama say to Gaeta, "take your time, I want to make sure", and they will spend the final ten episodes wrapping up all of the other story lines.

I think that it is Earth.

We have been told that the final 4 cylons + Starbuck have been there before. I don't know if thats a false lead or what, but think about it. When could this have happened? For Starbuck, in that 3-4 week period she was missing, it surely could have happened, but Tigh, Torrie, Chief and Anders were all with the RTFF that entire time. So for them to have been to Earth means they would have had to be there before any of this started.

Starbuck = harbringer of death. Maybe in her freak out, she led cylons to Earth and they devastated it before the people we know got there.

There is also the unresolved issue of the remaining cylons. Were they all destroyed? While it looked that way, it is highly possible that isn't the case and they found Earth and blew it away before the humans got there.

I understand why it would have been very hard to have them find Earth of today. You have to add many more characters, etc... all this while trying to resolve other plot lines, makes a show hard to wrap up in these few episodes.

I have heard that the final cylon reveal is going to be big. (from Ian Scott's blog and an interview with James Callis) Right now my bet is Rosalyn or Baltar. (My wife thinks it could be Doc Cottle as well)

I still am not overly sure what to think of this episode, but I enjoy their way of completely re routing the plot line so quickly. I mean, they found Earth, but now what?

Here are some other bits I have heard about the show....

-Caprica airs December of 07 They will introduce it like this show. That is there will be a mini series followed up by a regular show if it does well.

-There might be a couple of filler Razor type movies coming as well. They have been OK'd by Sci Fi and are working on it.

just a few of the oddities of the world of galactica (the full list would take a couple of days to write):

1. no home planet. the odds of humans evolving naturally on planets in or near the same solar system at roughly the same pace... beyond remote.
2. their "bible" (lords of cobal or whatever) was written essentially after they became a spacefaring race.
3. 13th tribe just split for no apparent reason. whats more, they not only left road signs on how to find them, they also provided pictures of their settlement in the prementioned bible.
4. the cylon models all vote on what action to take. the first time they didn't come to a unanimous vote they boxed a model. the second starts a civil war. so say we all!!! so say we all!!! so say we all!!! shouldn't that be the cylons line?
5. each cylon has a distinct personality. each colony produces a certain profession/career path. officers come from one planet, farmers from another, religious persons from another. interesting if not completely inefficient and unrealistic.

so, somehow they colonized 12 planets reletively close to one another at pretty much the exact same time. then during the settlement phase one group banded together and just left. hmmmm... isn't that exactly what happened in seasons 1 -4? the 12 colonies were "settled" and the 13th colony split and colonized earth.

all of this has happened before. but how can all of this be true? well its simple really. cylons. they are all fracking cylons! every last one of them. the galactica and fleet is the "original" 13th colony. the cylons they left behind become the original 12. from them they will repopulate those colonies with the dna they have stolen from humanity. at some point several of the cylons in the 13th colony will leave and return to the original 12. while they are human to some degree, they are largely machines and will follow the same evolutionary and cultural path which will lead to the "invention" of cylons and subsequent war. and all of this will happen again.

machines can't change their programming.

oh and baltar is jesus or some shit.
